I've been doing a lot of research on the web regarding this question and
would love to know what people's experiences have been with preserving and storing dried mushrooms for long periods up to six months or a year, thank you!!!

"ultraviolet treatment its good"

FAIL ^^^

The very best storage is vaccum sealed.
But storage in mason jars in dark cool place work good.
Why people wanna store them for so damn long are beyond me.

oxygen in the air is the main reason for loss of potency
dry them then cover in  light cooking oil in a sealed jar kept cool and dark  and they will keep forever
allow the oil to drain back into the jar through a sieve before eating
they will taste foul but who cares.

I hate to revive a post this old, but I have not been successful in my storage efforts and thought someone might have some additional input.

I get my fruits completely dried out, about 36 to 48 hours of room temp moving air.  They are literally cracker-dry and crunchy.

I've tried putting them in a jar with silica gel, a jar without, jar with inoculation holes in the lid, and jar with a poly-fill hole in the lid.

After a couple of days the fruits are shriveled and mushy.  Really soggy and smell bad.

I don't have a vacuum sealer.  I was thinking of suspending them in honey the way the Aztecs used to do (but don't want to ruin the whole crop).

Any additional suggestions are much appreciated.

Suspension in honey will definitely work but im not a fan of the taste of honey...
If you decide to do that i beloeve its best to dry then grind into a owder brfore adding to the honey. That way you can hardly taste the shroomage.
Personally im planning on making a big batch of 'magic chocolate' using pretty much the same method but after ive powdered my shrooms and added them to the melted choc im goin to freeze it for long term storage
we're all gonna die... So lets get high!!

Chains... That sounds like a good Idea!
I've had some in a plastic bag with some sillica packets and they seem to be holding well. It's been about a month with no weird feel, look, or smell.
Feel good before dying!!!!!

Yeah vaccum seal is the best, and i store mine in the freezer if i know i am going to hold on to them for longer than six months.....
