Hi all,

1st time poster and grower.

Colonizing some B+ in 1/2 pint jars(rice flower and verm).

My question is that I see some slightly off white color on some of the fungus. The color is a flesh or tan color.

Is this normal or a contaminant?

Thank you for your help.

hi there phxtaximan, we really need to see pics. but i would say no its not contamination. it could just be the BRF... most of the time your comtams will be black or green and it will grow fast. but like i said, need to see to be sure...

one other thing you could do is the smell test... put your nose up to the holes in the jar. if it smell like rotten apples and bad feet mixed it contamination... keep an eye on them for a day or two see what happens.

Sorry, no way to give an educated answer. All you can do is wait and see if it spreads or if mycelium takes over.

I'd say watch it also.  Pics are really needed for a any 'perfect' advice.  I'd say the smell test could work too if it continues to spread.

if its in contact with alot of water moisture that collects on the inside of the jar, i've had the same thing, but no problems fruiting

Thx all for the advice.

They smell good and are ready for fruiting.
