Is it a bad idea to put inoculated straw into spawn bags? Or should straw be limited to trays and bags limited to grain or sawdust?

If the straw is clean you sure can use it as spawn

I would only put shredded straw into spawn bags, but you could always try and post your results.

Pasteurized straw seems to be more contaminant resistant.

This worked great! Pulled the bags off after full colony an put in enclosure. Next time I think I will pack tighter. Nice bricks. Question... I had an unexpected late harvest. They turned into giants with caps way bigger than a beer can and length 8 - 10". But spores everywhere. Black. It's my 2nd flush. Will this affect the next flush if there is one? I don't feel safe sending pics.

jadzuke, take a look around here. You will notice alot of pictures so don't shy away. Just don't have any identifying information put into the pictures(location, name etc.) in case this is illegal in your area.

nah the spores being dropped shouldn't effect your next flush. . . .  next time just pick before spores release. . . .
