Psilocybe cubensis "Burma" time-lapse
« on: March 20, 2004, 01:27:09 AM »

I made a time-lapse video of some P. cubensis Burma growing over 42 hours.

The video is 42 seconds long.
1 second in video is 1 hour in real time.

You can download the video in 2 different formats:

Real Media format, measures 320x240 pix, 2.3 Mb:
http://www.fungifun.org/timelapse2_burma_real.rm

DivX format, measures 640x480 pix, 3.8 Mb::

For more details on the setup visit http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.p...&Number=2450435 (you need to be logged in at the Shroomery in order to read the thread).

Sorry i could not see your video but differrent subjects peer before me, when my casings are fully colonized and i have not enough room for each of my them in the terrarium what would i be able to do?  Just leave them on the rack in my closet or do they have to be in something particular to a terrarium? I am at a confusing state of mind!

You could construct an enclosure using a plastic bag and some sticks. Or use a bin covered with a sheet of plastic.

Oh yes and i was just wondering, is there another possible way to sterilize the vermiculite if the pressure cooker is not big enough to hold 4x it's usual capacity, such as microwave or is that good enough?

Have you installed DivX?
http://www.divx.com/divx/

As for the vermiculite, it is already very clean out of the bag, so moistening it and heating it up in the microwave for 10 minutes is enough.
Never microwave it dry , it will get VERY hot and destroy(melt or crack) the container you microwave it in.

1. downlaod and install the divx drivers
2. right click on the link to the mushroom video and choose "Save as..." and save it on your computer.
3. right click the downloaded file and choose "Open with..." and choose the Windows Media player. provided you have the divx drivers installed it should work.

Great vid. Watching it now helps me understand what I've read about the veil breaking on the mushroom. I have a question though. From what I have read it seems like it is recommended to pick the mushroom before it grows rather large. Why is that? What is the best size to harvest them at, when they will be as potent as they can be?
Thanks for any help you guys can give me.

The recommended time to harvest is soon after the veil brakes.

After that the mushroom doesn?t gain much on the mass anymore, and it releases many spores which are a  mess.

Read http://annonymer.members.easyspace.com/GROWTH_PARAMETERS.htm for more details on the growth parameters.
