Hey, I was just checking the archives and found out that the casing depth should be 1/4 of the depth of the substrate. I made mine closer to 1:1 ratio. Am I screwed? What should I do?

How thick is your casing layer?

I make mine between 1/4 and 1/2 an inch at the most with usually 3-4 inches of sub..

I had bout 1 1/2 in. of substrate compared to bout 1in of casing. I sterilized the area and a spoon and removed some of that casing. Hope everything goes okay. If it does go sour, I still got have about 7 quart jars about 70% colonized.
