I decided to create this forum in order to give people a way to directly post feedback on the teks featured on this website.

Mushroom cultivation is an ever evolving hobby or occupation thus also this site and its teks change over time. If you have some suggestions or questions, please post them in this forum and let fellow shroomers help you finding a solution.

Feel also  free to post anything else  related to mushrooms.

hehe hey there anno... I like ur site, but advertise that you have a forum more!

Welcome bluefrog, first registered user!

Well, I will put the links to to the forum  in   the Teks sections eventually. I don?t want this to get a  big forum, just a platform for some feedback regarding the teks and the site in general.

bluefrog

alrighty then... so heres definately a tek I would like to find, and possibly you could help... I would like to find an agar tek that doesnt only have to do with agar... more of what it is, where to get it, how to formulate it (if you need to do anything) the basics of agar plates... Id like to get into it and am having a hard time finding out the "how"

Yes, a very good tek indeed, my friend had searched on google a while ago and that is what it came up with, received very good results at the end of his adventure! So he says:D

I would like to endeer some help on my flat cakes and my trarrium work!

-  Do flat cakes need a trarium do to this picture of Eatyualives flat cake tek on Nansnook, looking as if he has nothing covering the rack but i see hindges so maybe never mind about this or answer either one works?

-  Also, how long for anyone of my creative experiments can i leave in the Trarrium without fanning or spraying do to the lack of care taken away by work and school?

-  Is it only for other mushroom types that grow on the sides of flat cakes or does that go with P. Cubensis also....and if i do not take the flat cake out of the container will they still grow huge flushes as heard and maybe even after the first flush be able to take out, dunk, and leave out for a no container flat cake flush?

I would appreciate it if i could get my questions answered, and thank you everyone this forum is giving great help to all my peering needs that have strucken me over my shoulders!
Gooba!  :D

>- Do flat cakes need a terrarium

Flat cakes have the same high humidity requirements as cakes, so yes, they will need some kind of an enclosure.

school?

P. cubensis is a very tolerant species, so you can leave the terrarium without fanning for a couple of days(or even longer, see since P. cubensis fruits even in spawn bags without any active aeration.
You shouldn't let them unattended one the pins have grown over 1/2 an inch, since from then it?s only a matter of 1-2 days when you have fully grown mushrooms.

I am not a big fan of the flat cake, since there is no point really in crumbling the cakes and then NOT casing them.
My advice is, if you don?t want to fruit the cakes as whole cakes, then go the casing route.

Thanks anno,
I have researched casing teks down at the nans nook and decided on doing the hongus tek (casing for dummies since this is my first time casing)

http://www.nansnook.com/~archives/tek/hongus.htm

By looking at what is going on at this site i was taking in mind that maybe if i flip the casing to get it out of the container when it is colonized, i was wondering if they would grow on the botton(top when out of container) and sides...because of this many mushrooms grow on the top of the casing in those pictures but if taking it out for the mycelium to grow there pins that they start on the sides and bottom to not leave them to a waste...or i could just take it out and leave it sitting on the bottom to let the sides and the original top to grow out for max flushes(beeing careful about bruising the original top while taking it out in this case)?????
If you could give me a hand on this one that would be extremely helpful, if not i will just go with the original tek!
I also want to try a bulk substrate which i was wondering, would i be able to use just vermiculite in, (I could maybe, but only maybe get a greenish type straw off my friend if that helps any for this, but if there is just a vermiculite use only way could you help me out with that) and also all those other steps to making a succesful bulk?  If you could give me some additives on this that would be surely appreciative!
Thank you once again! :D

P.S.  When fruiting how do i know the humidification level(%) and how to lower it or higher it(RH level which i do not know what that stands for?)

anno

Ideally there should?t be any pins on the side of the container.
They only appear if the container is translucent(which it shouldn?t be)
Therefor there is no point in taking the substrate out of the container, just leave it there and threat it as casing.
The Shroomery cultivation FAQ has the answers to your other questions, just take some time to research it.
