Hay all,

is there any reason or is it necessary to turn the jars upside down no fanning during colonization correct?

Cakes just sit in the jars until fully colonized; top, sides, bottom too, with the lids and alum tops on tight without breathing until birth which is when pins first appear?

also, could I use the incubator to keep the temp controlled for fruiting the cakes with perlite and the wire mesh.

No.

>no fanning during colonization correct?

Correct.

>Cakes just sit in the jars until fully colonized; top, sides, bottom too,

Yes.

>with the lids and alum tops on tight without breathing

They are breathing, the lids are not completely tight.

>until birth which is when pins first appear?

Or app. 10 days after full colonization, even if no pins appear.

>could I use the incubator to keep the temp controlled for fruiting the cakes
> with perlite and the wire mesh.

Yes, albeit the temperature might be too high for the fruiting stage.

Oh, but I must have put the torque on cuz those lids are tight! even with the seal side up. I don't think they were breathing properly taking a lot of time to colonize.(???)
more than two months.

Maybe you packed your substrate in to tight?

Baphom3t

you don't pack brf/verm.

You tap it lightly with the spoon you use to put the mix in with.
same with the verm layer.
It is suppose to be airy, fluffy.

You could have put to much water in that batch for those jars.
Do you see water in the bottom of the jar?
A pic would be nice.
Then it would be easier to see what's going on.   -_- -_-

I may have packed em jest a little tight but not much, shook em a little to level off the substrate.

yea there were a few droplets in jars.

I birthed em and the brown spots (in earlier pics I sent) look to be mushkies that were growing against the side of the jar. kinda smooth and slickery. they smell like fresh shrooms, kinda of musty, good.(the cakes that is)

I think I could have birthed em possibly a couple of weeks ago, is all. Hope they still fruit up some goodies.
