Hello!!!

First time poster here. I'll be honest. for some reason shroomery.org wont let me create an account. saying something about how other people in my area have been abusing the site so now no one can make an account. FACK. they directed me towards this site and after reading through a few posts and seeing the lack of valid responses to posts...sorry guys. this forum seems dead. the stickys and tutorials are obviously very helpful but I'm not sure about current conversation.... so if anyone who has an account can link my post here to a thread on shroomery I would be very greatful:-)

I live in snohomish washington, about 30 miles north of seattle and 20 miles inland from the water. My home is on a couple acres of heavily wooded area and after reading up on mushrooms and going to a few farmers markets i decided to go mushroom hunting! Yes I am mainly looking for active mushrooms...but i do like to cook a lot so if anything i have here would go well in some risoto or on a burger, let me know!

I am in the process of getting spore prints of everything pictured here so i will update with that hopefully tomorrow or the day after. All the photos were taken with my galaxy S3.

here are a few i found growing out of my raised beds in my garden. fresh compost that was put in this summer:

the stems are thin and hollow, the caps were very smooth and a little slimy.
later on i found these EVERYWHERE... i have the feeling they aren't anything, but couldn't resist the chance to take photos.
here are a few more examples of these:
<a href="http://s125.photobucket.com/user/snowman3645/media/20131003_120101.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p55/snowman3645/20131003_120101.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20131003_120101.jpg"/></a>

Now these were also in the raised beds but a little different.

I believe this is the same type as the others above but just a thicker, bigger product

On these the stem was thicker, a little fuzzy as you saw, the caps were still a bit slimy but not as translucent. I didn't notice any blue bruising on anything I picked today...BTW.

This in more a curiosity just to see if it is edible. Big mo-fo

similar to a shitake or portabello. looked yummy :)

These also looked like little trumpet mushrooms or something, purely culinary interests here:

as you can see these were growing in a mossy lawn. most were quite small, smaller than a dime. but i found a few good sized caps.

I believe these are the same strain as the first pictures I put up, but they are 50 times the size...different strain?
<a href="http://s125.photobucket.com/user/snowman3645/media/20131003_120319.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p55/snowman3645/20131003_120319.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20131003_120319.jpg"/></a>

Now here is something new. Darker brown caps, looked fuzzy as appose to the smooth slippery caps of the others.

Now we are switching places, my neighbors yard, under an evergreen. The soil was a bit bare and rocky.

These caps also looked a bit fuzzy, but were quite moist. so was the grass...so whatever...

snowman3645

I am really hopeful for this one turning out. 1. because it looks cool and 2. because there were a ton of them in the woods. all the pictures for the next few mushrooms are back in the thick brush areas. lots of leaves, very wet mud, fallen logs, not much of a trail to speak of.

cross section...cause it fell apart in my hand. I'm very scientific like that.

This one caught my eye. dark and mysterious. a little wavy.

again, possibly the same as the first pictures, but different coloring and blooming differently. had to snap a few

These were never in direct sunlight and in a much more moist area than the others out in the lawn. don't know if that would explain the different in color or if this is just a different strain all together.

So as i walked through the woods i was looking very intently and thought to myself "I dont see anything on these logs over here...walked away...then thought buuuuuut what about UNDER?!" turned around and bam, found this little guy. Nobody knows me like me, right?

This guy was quite prevalent growing out of piles of leaves or under ferns, average size was about the width of a dollar bill.

I only found a few of these. pretty different from the rest. really thick, hollow stock and real tacky dark cap.

These were kind of an anomaly, sooo tiny. little bright yellow dots. growing mostly off of mossy logs.

These were Under a large pine tree, relatively dry. lots of twigs and dry moss. no leaves. little soil. mostly layers and layers of small sticks and dead brush.

alright, now i am out of the woods, across the street and there is a big area where my neighbor and his friends dump all their horse crap, which is mixed with wood shavings. partially shaded. lots of moisture. this gross looking black/grey ball about 1cm across that is covered is white hair is popping out.

walking further down a gravel road with 6-10inch tall grass on either side, I see this little guy. bright yellow. very slimy.

alright so those are all the pictures I have from my hunt today. I have samples of everything sitting on paper overnight. I will have spore prints tomorrow. In the mean time, ask me any questions you may have or if you think you know it shout it out!!! I'm not going to eat anything anytime soon so don't be shy. I'm not gonna die on your word alone.

Thanks so much for looking and like I said, if anyone could forward just a link of this to shroomery, I would very much appreciate it.

If maybe there were only 1 or 2 pictures.  Dang, I don't have time to look at all those.  When too many pictures are posted, its hard to keep posts up with "which pictures".  Here is some good advice.  Stay away from the shroomery.  You should be in good hands here.  slp/fmrc

yeah I didnt  think this board wouldn't support HTML. it would have all been right there... if you open all the links for each cluster of photos at one time it makes it much easier to see all of them together. a little extra clicking, but I wanted to be as detailed as possible..

Holy crap, no. Maybe the bolete. Don't eat any gilled mushrooms you didn't buy at the site out from a trusted friend. On mycology what you have there are known as LBM's, little brown mushrooms. They are akin to the DYC's in botony, damn yellow compositaes. There are too many of each that look to much like each other to visually identify. I'd guess galerina but for real, no, don't eat those and wash your hands. The other one, thee polypore, the spongey looking one, is probably edible. There are rules for eating boletes, mostly don't eat orange or yellow ones out one with orange or yellow pores or ones that bruise blue (lol) but they are one of the safer families. Think porcini.
