General topics / Can I Has Butter Nao Pl0x????????
January 06, 2010, 01:24:40 PM
It's been a long time since I've been around , but some kind freinds of mine brought this to me.

Most people from Ohio know of the Dumpster strain and it's yummy heady goodness.
This butter was made with 2 oz. of this beautiful ohio strain.

As for my absence....I am so stretched for time any more it's stupid.
I got off probation and went on the road with Phish for a few months. :D
I will be moving in the next 2 months to another state to hopefully get a better chance at life than I've had here where I live at.
There are a few of you I have thought of this past summer.
It seems some new growing gurus have evolved here since my last visit.
As I been going from place to place , I been actually teaching some of my freinds how to enjoy this hobby step by step and have sucsessfully taught 12 people.

Much <3 to those that know who I am here and a great big hello, howdy how are ya to those I have yet to meet here.

General topics / R.I.P Don , my dear friend
July 17, 2009, 06:25:54 PM
This week I have lost a real dear friend to brain cancer.
And today he was laid to rest.
It has not been easy in anyway and it's pretty hard for me to write all this.
He turned my wife and I onto Chai Tea and we turned him onto Micro-brew way back in the early-mid 90's.
He was a good man and would always be glad to see your face.
He never had a bad thing to say about anybody.
He had a heart that was as big as all outdoors.
He was the kinda of man that cared about others no matter what.
He was the type of person that would give anyone his shirt if they didn't have one.
He was/is my friend
My dear friend you will be sorely missed.  :( :( :(

R.I.P Don Herbort you will always be in my heart and thoughts.

General topics / Important Please Read
January 31, 2009, 04:24:04 PM
I have had alot of shit happen to me the past couple weeks and I hate to say this but I am going to be gone indefinatly.
I have a ton of family issues that stand in my way of helping out the community.
I am not sure if I will be back or not as I may be getting a divorce from my wife.
There are many things that need to be sorted in my life and I feel it's best that I take the time to figure out my future.
I hope all of you can understand my decision and I wish all of you good luck with your grows.

Take care all,

Cultivation / Top Soil/Verm mixture
August 19, 2007, 12:40:49 PM
I took your advice Anno
and tried a topsoil/verm layer on a tray that caught the green and moved it outside.
I must say,it worked out quite well.
I just thought I'd share that.
I dont think I will use Coir as a casing anymore.
Thanks Anno :)

Cultivation / Cloning / Isolating vs. Multispore
July 26, 2007, 05:39:59 AM
During this last project I have ran across the issue of performance.

Now with multispore innoc I am getting the idea that pinsets may not become all that good. i.e alot of side pinning and spotty pinning at the center.
But with Cloning / Isolating the performance can be ten fold.

Is the reason for this due to the choosing of the most vigorous Myc growth?
and that you are choosing Myc that has already become dikaryonic?

Is the reason that multispore flushes are the way they are due to the spores starting out as monokaryonic which takes time and energy from the nutes to become dikaryonic?
Which would result in a lesser flush?

Comments are greatly welcome.

Cultivation / GT's (UPDATED 8-1-07)
July 24, 2007, 12:09:26 PM
here is a couple pics that I thought I'd share
Enjoy all!!!
GT's on Rye cased with coir.
Now upon this grow I have got info for differant casings.
Anno gave me a link to a tek with top soil/limestone flour.
I am gonna be trying out new casings for better results (hopefully)
I have not got a consistant pinset with coir.
60/40 verm/coir I did ok but it is nowhere near as close as Anno or Hyphae's pinset.
I try to make it as level as possible no more than 1/2 inch and I get some pinset in the middle but I also experience alot of side pinning (not that i dont mind that after all its still a mushie)
What can be the possible reasons for this?
Outside the obvious and the fact that I'm using coir to case is there any other issues I should look at?

Cultivation / Drying
July 19, 2007, 12:29:15 PM
I know this is not a new TEK but I have dried mushrooms in various ways.

Now some may say that heat will break down the actives in them but I have figured out a way to do it in the oven.
Turn the oven to its lowest setting.
If you have a meat thermometer toss it in so you can get a idea of the temps your oven will be at.
Leave the oven door open just a bit.
My oven set like this brings a temp of 100-120 farenheit.
Place a wire screen in the oven and put them on the screen.
Check every hour until dry.
With this method they seem to dry in a matter of hours instead of a couple days.

I have not noticed any loss of potency whatsoever, temps any higher will cause actives to break down due to the heat.
At first I was leary to do it,but for the past few days the humidity where I live has been excessive, and this method has turned out to work for me pretty well so far.

I don't think I'll dry them any other way from now on.

Cheers all

Cultivation / Baph took the lazy route
June 02, 2007, 05:47:57 AM
Yep thats right!!
I took the lazy route and got a few grow bags from a vendor,
and they are working out better than I thought they would.
They are about 25-40% colonized.
These are 3lb rye bags I should mention.
Don't get me wrong I like making my own grains, but time restraints prevented me from doing so.
I plan on taking the bags and throwing them into trays upon completion.
I will update with pics when I can get a chance.
T.C all,

Cultivation / Some PR Pics
May 05, 2007, 07:13:21 AM
Here is a few pics of some PR's.
Enjoy All.

That pretty cluster weighted in at 74 grams

There is a tray on it's 3rd flush

There is another lovely cluster that came in at a nice 108 grams

There they are layed out on a piece of printing paper.

When they first started out I was very dissapointed in the size of the fruits I was getting.
So I took distilled water and poured into the trays and let them set for 6 hrs. and then drained them,
And the fruits took off and double and tripled in size.

Substrate : Wheat Berries
Casing : 60/40 Verm/Coir
Colonization Temps : 68-74 degrees
Incubation Temps : 68-74 dgerees
Fruiting Temps : 68-76 degrees

Cultivation / Oh,the Chitwan (Updated 5-8-07 w/pic)
April 21, 2007, 07:06:05 AM
They may be smaller than the norm, but I had my first try at these wonderful pieces of art,and all I can say is WOW!!!
not only are they pictures of beauty upon growing, but the effects are the best I think I may have ever had.
Tonite my wife and I are going camping and I plan on taking 2-2.5 grams, my wife is going to do .5-1.5 grams(ya she's a bit of a light weight) of this truly wonderful mushroom.
They seem to just keep fruiting, unlike others I have grown before that take a few days between flushes.
The syringe I accuired is around 4-6 years old.
They first started out as really small fruits and within 1 week I did a "in tray" rehydration and they have almost tripled in size.
Here is some that should be ready in a couple days.

And here is the very first fruits that came up that were the small ones, minus 1.5 grams I ate a few nights ago.that bag still weighs around 5 grams.

Anno, I would love all the info you can hash up or share on this really awesome strain if you would please.I read the section at shroomery you made with the help of Baestal (hope I spelled his name right).
I love how the body load is minimal and how its more visual than any other I have tried. and how it's not a mental mind fuck as some can be,not that I don't mind a mental fuck once in awhile  -_-
It was one of the most enjoyable journeys I have had.
I have come to think this is my favorite strain.  -_- -_-
Cheers all,
Baph

Cultivation / Somewhat of a Dunking question
April 10, 2007, 04:06:15 PM
hows it goin all,I havent been on much lately,But I have ran into something I think I should ask advice for.
O.K,here is the deal,
I have some PR's that just won't stop fruiting.
The fruits have been small since they have began, and I mean small something like 5-10 grams wet.
The question I have is,
Is it ok to dunk a tray that still has primodia,or Hyphal knots?
Or will this hurt the new fruits?
