Title: "Q" about aluminum foil and lids
Post by: axis on April 11, 2007, 06:21:56 PM
Let me get this straight. after dumping the substrate mixture in the jar, cover with aluminum foil, and then the lids with the holes on top of that, and next, the ring and tighten all together? Or is it, the lids with holes and tighten with rings then cover with aluminum. Too many TEK's I think.

do it which ever way you think more water will not get into the jars during steralization

Either 2 layers of foil(without holes), or a lid with 4  holes and a layer of foil atop of that.

Aluminum foil is aluminum prepared in thin metal leafs, with a thickness less than 0.2 mm / 0.008 in, although much thinner gauges down to 0.006 mm are commonly used. Foils are commonly gauged in Mils.
