I heard Lysol can cause problems when it's sprayed too close to the FC or around the babies. Anyone know or hear about that?

Malabar,

Glad your trip was nice! You are a very generous and knowledgeable guy! You know I would love to get my hands on as many strains as possible. If I can do anything for you, just let me know and I'm there. I need to expand my operation (FC capacity) very soon. Looking to try a monotub(s) in order to save space, we'll see how that goes. I'm outta town this weekend will be back Monday morning, hit me up when you have a sec.

I don't use spawn bags, so I can't be any help there. If you are incubating at 86F, that sounds like a breeding ground for contaminates. You might want to lower your temp.

I didn't say that, I said, "I'm not giving them the satisfaction, or wasting my time on that shit. Damn them to the bowels of Hell!"

Emphasis on Damn them to the Bowels of Hell

Must have misquoted me..... I'll let it slide.

I stopped clicking on their new threads a long time ago. Half my cultivation page has "New" posts on it. I'm not giving them the satisfaction, or wasting my time on that shit. Damn them to the bowels of Hell!

Just think how apprehensive you would be if you didn't go out of town. But it's great to come home to some kind of progress... if we could all be so lucky.

Some times we all need a little reminder/counseling on how to get through the rough spots. GL, keep us posted.

Just plain patience. Sucks, I know, but we all have to play the waiting game. I have to manually fan my casings for FAE every so often, so I always have my eye on them and it take forever sometimes for signs of growth. Try to distract yourself somehow.

Cultivation / Re: Casing Microwave Tek?
August 10, 2009, 01:42:40 PM
Below is straight from shroomery.org. Of course, the amount of time in the microwave depends on how much casing material you have. Make sure the container is microwaveable too.

Instructions:

Clean the inside of your microwave out...use bleachy water.
Then spray the inside with Lysol.
You want to microwave your casing material in the microwave for 5 minutes.
Spray the air out side the microwave with Lysol.
Pull the container out of the microwave and stir up the casing material with a clean utensil.
Put it back in the microwave...and nuke it for another 5 minutes.

Let the casing material cool down in the microwave oven.

Spray the air with Lysol.
Pull the container out of the microwave oven.
Apply the casing material to your substrate.
Then cover both containers to keep airborne contaminants out.

I wouldn't worry too much. It takes longer when starting from a spore inoculation, b/c the spore has to mature into mycelium. With a G2G transfer, the already mature mycelium just continues to colonize on the new grain. 86 F is way, way too hot for incubation, no higher than 80 F and that's pushing it too. Contaminants will stop growth before it even has a chance to start.

The one's on the left may be suffering from overlay. I haven't had to deal with it before, but it's when the myc grows through the casing material and forms a layer on top. Look into it on Shroomery for solutions and wait for other opinions here. I may be wrong it's just my observation.
