Title: strain isolation w/ pans
Post by: wizdumb on December 02, 2008, 05:01:36 PM

When isolating pan cultures on agar I don't see sectoring as with cubes.  What characteristics should  I be seeking?     In the past I always stuck the densest,  fastest growing myc.  but had less than stellar results come fruiting time.  Was this my choice of isolate or just my in-experience when growing pans?   Thanks for any help!

Pan mycelium doesn't form rizomorphs so you cant isolate for that. Start by isolating each zone and then fruit each one seperatly to find the best performance. Then pick your tissues.
