So I have 6 half gallon jars of grains that were pretty much 100% colonized about a week ago and I was letting them sit for a little bit before I cased them. On friday I went out of town and just got back today. Now 2 of the jars have what appear to be hyphal knots growing on them.
Since I was going to case the grains can I still break them up or has the fruiting process started? Or, can I just fruit them like a BRF cake (didn't think this was possible with grains). It would be crazy to see a 1/2 gallon size cake since BRF cakes are 1/2 pint sized.
Here are some ok pics I took to see if you guys think they are hyphal knots or not or if you can even tell from the pics. The last pic is one of my jars next to a gallon of milk just to give an idea of how big the cakes are.
