PF - Tek / Put cake in PMP and Myc. is still forming?
August 12, 2005, 09:12:39 AM
Could you guys help me out? I think it may be a lack of humidity the temps I got close enough (they kinda fluctuate) but never get too high or too low. But i see no condensation inside of my PMP. This is how my setup looks.

I couldn't afford the air wands (Talk about Poor mans pod) so i used some tubing that I poked a shitload of holes in with a sterile pin.

The lid I have doesn't exactly fit the tub (these were things I had laying around) But I cut the middle out of the lid and siliconed some plexi on it so they could get light. Then I duct taped the lid on i did find a spot this morning that air/moisture could be escaping from, ill fix that when i get off work.

I plan on misting in there with some warm water (I've already dunked my cake but didn't roll do you think this will hurt the cake?) to hopefully raise humidity.

The pump is a dual outlet, don't know the name but it was the best they had it was $23 so I don't think this is the issue.

When i birthed this cake 2 days ago there was still a very small section that had not colonized all the way but would not colonize in the jar so when I initially saw the myc. spread I thought this would be a good thing but it hasn't stopped its getting a bit bulkier bad? good? I don't know.

Please let me know what you guys think temps range from 73 - 78 (roughly) but I think its the humidity and again its only day 2 in PMP but the pros would know best.

Thanks,

Cultivation / can shroom grow w/o spore?
July 24, 2005, 02:11:17 PM
Thats like trying to grow weed without a seed. Or anything else for that matter. The only way you can grow shrooms without spores it to clone the shroom itself, which from the tek on this site i see that it is possible. Try looking at www.shroomery.org as well on teks about cloning but other than that i would advise getting a spore syringe from an online supplier like www.sporesdirect.com or www.spores101.com

PF - Tek / Incubation Question
July 24, 2005, 07:23:29 AM
If you kept jars in a sealed off shoe box with a grow light on the box to keep up temps, do you think this would work? - If not then does anyone know of a way to build something with $0?

Cultivation / How much Yield from 10cc syringe?
July 20, 2005, 01:29:54 PM
10cc will innoculate about 10-12 jars. Now i have no experience in this since my spores have not arrievd in the mail yet but, ive read countless posts here and at the shroomery so from what i know Your yeild will depend on: The strand, conditions the mushrooms are grown in, and the sterilitity of your product.

But i have heard on average 50grams from 10cc's

As far as how to grow them, what you are looking for is tek's. The one i plan on useing is a blend of the MMGG and the pF teck which are the same except one uses a pressure cooker and one uses a pot w/ a lid.
The main page of this site www.fungifun.org has the pF tek explained in full detail so check that out. if your looking for more try The Shroomery

Hope this helps!

A spore print is made from a cap of a mushroom dropping its spores. and a SPORE SYRINGE is made from a sproe print. The syringe is used to inject spores into you substrate (usuially a pF cake) and the reason a print cost more is because a print makes more than one syringe.

Cultivation / How to get spores?
July 20, 2005, 08:36:08 AM
Im not personally sure on your local laws but i know who would be. The spore supplier would not send spores to a place where it is illegal. Some suppliers i know of are Spores101, and SporesDirect more can be found at The Shroomery under their sponsors section

Cultivation / using a dehumidifier to dry shrooms
July 20, 2005, 08:06:34 AM
I know of another way that i heard works the best (never tried it tho kuz i havet got my syringe in the mail yet  :D ) but get a tupperware bowl, some wire mesh, Damp Rid or Damp-Be-Gone (Calcium Chloride, you can find this a Home Depot) Its used to dry paint quickly it sucks moisture from the air, and the last thing you need is an old rag.

Take your wire mesh and bend the sides to raise it off the bottom of the bowl. This is where the water will collect.

Put a rag on top of that and put the calcium chloride on the rag.

Bend more wire mesh to make another layer in between the rag.
put the shrooms on there and close the lid.

This will completely suck the moisture out of your mushrooms.

I found this info at the Shroomery Forums so if you need like a diagram or something check out their site The Shroomery

Cultivation / Is cake neccesary?
July 20, 2005, 07:04:55 AM
The reason you pressure cook it is to sterilize the substrate and jar. Actually you dont even need to pressure cook the jars you can boil in a coverd pot with a towel/rag at the bottom (as to not break the jars) with about 1 1/2" to 2" of water im not too sure on the time you let it boil so check out  The Shroomery and search for MMGG -Magic Mushroom Grow Guide - it has the boiling tek rather than the pressure cooker tek.

Cultivation / Do you ever need to Water it?
July 20, 2005, 06:50:42 AM
No and actually from my understanding you dont want to water the cake directly when its flushing. There is the Dunk TeK though. After your first flush put your cake in a container filled with water and make sure you have some bent screen or some wire mesh to keep it submerged in the water. Put a lid on it and store in your refridgerator for 12 to 24 hours then place back in your fruiting chamber/terrarium. Its suppose to make more water absorb into your cake leading to bigger fruiting on your following flushes.

Cultivation / TOO MUCH!?
July 20, 2005, 06:33:18 AM
Well im no expert but i have read almost all of these posts. A guy in the pF section asked the same thing. They replied in that it may make it colonize faster but in terms of growth it should produce the same yeild, and as far as i know it wont damage the cake itself. But im sure you figued that out alredy
