I prepared my mushroom jars about 3 weeks ago, and so far mycelium growth has been good.

I had used my roommate's glass cups (he's a strange guy), and yesterday he got extremely angry when he found that I was using them for growing mushrooms. He told me to empty them out so he could wash the glasses out.

I grabbed a cardboard slab and slid out the cakes on it, and put it in my ukelele case. I rushed to the store & bought 3 tupperware bowls, came back and quickly put the cakes in them.

Probably wasn't the best handled situation, but now I'm worried that I ruined them.
I checked for contamination, and saw a tiny bit of blue bruising on a few of the cakes, but overall it doesn't look like there was contamination.
Another concern is that the cakes aren't as sealed up as they were in the jars. There's lots of empty room in the bowls they're currently in, will this affect anything?

I already have a good and steady temperature in my house so I won't need an incubator. I'm using the tek on this site, simple minds one.

I know this topic is a bit old, but I want to use the strain Ecuador for my first grow, this potent?

Cultivation / On contamination...

I don't want people to know that I'm growing mushrooms, so I want my setup to be in the corner of my closet. There's enough space for me to fit the jars and a fruiting chamber (I won't need to use an incubator). I've never grown mushrooms. My questions are:

1. Is contamination of big factor of growing mushrooms? Do they get contaminated very easily?
2. There are many clothes in my closet, but I'll brush some off to the side so they're not right next to my setup. With clothes in the room and near the jars/fruiting chamber, will my mushrooms get contaminated easily?
3. A week in advance of growing them, should I continuously spray Lysol to disinfect?

I was thinking of putting the jars in a seal-able box so they're not just wide out in the open. Please help me out!!

PF - Tek / inoculation spores question

So I know that you need to put 1-1.5 ml of the spores into each jar. But since there are four holes, how do I balance that out? How many ml. should I put in each hole?

And also, to sterilize the needle, could I use a regular pocket lighter, or would I need something else?
