Cultivation / Re: Potential Grow

In my experience light is needed for more than a trigger.  Not much light is needed but I had some trays of wbs that had started pinning and I had to go away suddenly for 4 days and had to leave the lights in my closet off while gone.  The fruits continued to grow but they were everywhere.  Up and down and twisted around an growing at odd angles with lots of mc fuzz.  Light helps to keep them growing up and uniform so u have a good looking product with maximum yeild.  I go 4-6 hours a day with a double wall mounted light in natural light spectrum and it works great.

there is no need.  fully colonized cakes will withstand any outside contam.   It is in the beginning stages that your substrate is susceptible.  and when it gets older and weaker.  dunk and roll away.

at least another week.  I waited 2.5 weeks one time and then reinnoc. and the next morning had growth from first innoc. and ended that i fucked them up from messing with them.  be patient.  3 weeks is a good amount of time to be sure.

You dont need to use potato water.  In fact I would say not to.  your just introducing one more variable that could cause problems.  If it is your first time stick to the pf tek and you cant go wrong.  learn how to case as it will increase your yeild exp.  Once you learn what your doing and have a few successes then you can start experimenting.  Trust the experienced ones and stik to it for first couple trust me.

I think you need to change a few things to be honest.  One thing is you dont have nearly enough perlite in that FC.  I can see the bottom of the FC on the corners.  You should have a good 2 or 3 inches of perlite minimum in my opinion.  Next that red plastic chamber is out.  Go find a Clear one or a solid one with a clear top.  or find a solid one and cut a peice of plexiglass to fit on top.  you can use a bit of rubber window seal or foam to seal the top between lid and bottom.  next that fan idea is ok but I have found that a little water at the bottom and a fish tank air pump with a bubbler in the water will help with humidity and take care of all the FAE that you need. Lastly you need to study up on Casing.  I know that it is your first time but Casing is not that hard and it helps to alleviate any problems due to low Humidity.  But if your not gonna Case then you def need to dunk and roll.  This hobby requires discipline and if your gonna half ass it then you are not gonna get results.  GL hope this helps.  maybe not what u wanna hear but fuck it you want shrooms right?

Why would you need to sterilize with PC?  I reuse all my syringes.  Just suck up a syringe full of Alcohol.  let it sit for ten minutes while u get a pot of water boiling.  Squirt alcohol back into bottle and suck up boiling water into syringe, squirt into sink, suck up more boiling water, squirt into sink, repeat about 6 or 7 times, the last time filling whole syringe with boiling water and capping it with supplied syringe cap(small plastic peice that screws on where needle goes).  You now have a sterile syringe full of sterile water.  you can do anything with it at that point.

General topics / Caps where its at?
October 14, 2009, 04:19:56 PM
So ive been around drugs a long time and have always found the old wives tales like drink oj on acid and u will trip harder and shit like that to be all false.  well im sure we have all heard the phrase the cap is where its at when refering to mushrooms.  Anyone here believe this at all or have any knowledge that this could be true.  In an argument with a friend who says that my caps are to small to be worth anything even though i think they are beautiful and quite large before drying.  I have however had a couple of good trips on prettymuch stems or stems and shake before so I say it is bullshit.  anyway please weigh in as I respect your opinions.

Cultivation / lc still good?
October 04, 2009, 06:25:16 AM
so i have an lc that i made about a month ago. I used it to hit up five jars of orissa india wbs which i am casing today.  I put it in the fridge 2 weeks ago or so after i had loaded my syringes for inoc.  I pulled it out last night as i am going to use it in the next day or so to hit up my newly filled jars but the myc is all floating now.  the solution is still crystal clear and the myc look great but i am used to it sitting on the bottom of the jar not floating.  Will this still be ok?

Cultivation / rust in lc?
July 17, 2009, 02:03:43 PM
so making a new lc with hawaii and have good myc growth but used a mason jar with metal disc lid.  have done this before and not had a problem but this time some rust dropped into lc.  Myc is still advancing but I wonder if this is going to affect anything?

p.s.  Have learned my lesson and I will find suitable plastic to use from now on but would love not to waste this batch as a week setback is no fun.
