Yeah, my experiences with Salvia have been not that enjoyable.  Smoking the stuff tastes awful and leaves this weird, yucky, taste/feeling in your mouth and throat.  The trip IS intense, but very short, and then you just feel weird for a few hours afterwards.  I guess I don't really like it.

It is just blue and crappy looking in places and was taking anything that looked funky off.  I'm new to this, so that might not be the right thing to do...
My FC has an electrosonic fogger in it, so the cakes are essentially enveloped in fog all day.  I take the lid off twice a day so they can get some direct light from the lightbulbs.  As far as fanning goes, there is air pumped in from under the hydroton and it is going out through holes on both sides of the chamber, just above the top of the hydroton.

Thanks guys.  Yeah, I just got home from work and basically lightly hand scrubbed the whole cake and am dunking it again now.  I will roll it tonight (not dunk very long), because I'm quite sure it is not dehydrated at all.  Cake was dunked at least a month ago I believe.

They are actually darker (more blackened) than they appear in the pictures.  And if you just touch one, it will fall right off the cake.  Not sure what that means, but maybe you're right and I should just wait.  Thanks.  Oh, and temp has been around 72.

Can you guys help me understand what is going on with these tiny shrooms?  They look like they might actually become something, but they have been exactly this size for probably 2 weeks...are they aborts?  FAE and RH are all fine. Should I just pick them off, dunk and roll again, or wait some more?

Thanks!

I just researched the art behind the Tool stuff in GHWT and it is by a guy named Alex Grey.  Check out his website at http://www.alexgrey.com/ and at least look at the posters...they are amazing!!!!

My friend recently mailed me the "Pink Floyd Live at Pompei" DVD and it is VERY cool if  you have never seen it and you love Floyd!

Likewise, there is this "Tool" background that goes on while you play the 3 Tool songs on Guitar Hero World Tour that has got to be one of the coolest, trippiest things I have ever seen.  I'm not sure if there is a way to just watch it without playing the game, but if you could figure out it would be amazing!!!!
I might see if it is on youtube or if there is some cheat to just unlock it so it can play on your TV....

Here's a photo of what I just put my jars in...can't tell much, but you can see the 2 tubs, the top one being weighed down by an amp and containing the jars and a blanket, the bottom one containing the water, the water heater, and 4 half crushed cola cans to keep the top tub from touching the water heater.

To incubate I bought 2 rubbermaid tubs that were the same size.  In the bottom one I layed down a fully submersible water tank heater and set it to around 82.  You then need to put down some rocks, or cups, or anything else in the corners so that when you put the second rubbermaid tub into the first one, the tub doesn't go down all the way and touch the heater.   You fill the bottom tub, the one with the heater, with some water enough that when you place the second tub in (with the innoculated jars in it), the water level rises so it comes up several inches above the second tub.  You are essentially surrounding the top tub with warm water.  The second tub will most likely just float on the water if you don't really weigh it down with something.  I actually just used shoelace and basically tied the top tub down to the bottom.  Then I just put a bed sheet over the innoculated jars in the top tub, kept a wired temp gauge in there with them, and let them sit.  I think anywhere around 80 is an okay temp from what I've read.  When I finally did it right, I'd say it took 3 to 4 week for the jars to fully colonize...I think many people can do it much faster.  Good luck.  I'm about to innoculate 2 new jars tonight...so far I really have nothing to show for all my efforts, so you might want to PM PW or Baph or fattrout...they know WAY more than I do.

Yeah, I know what you mean.  I'll be honest...my first growing attempt is NOT going well.  BUT, after a good bit of reading and asking questions, I think I have a decent fruiting chamber at least.  Read the string called "CAN'T GET RH ABOVE 90!!! Please help!!!"  in this forum and you'll see the pics.

Yes, sitting on a single sheet of foil on top of the hydroton.

In all honesty, you really are a complete prick PW.  But I have to take that back, because you do give excellent advice and are very helpful.  Maybe that and your prickfulness even out to make you a decent person.

Okay...no...I don't have holes at the bottom...I'll drill a few in right now...thanks!
#55
allright...cool...I just checked it again and it looked like it was creeping upwards of 90.  I don't have any holes in the container now except for a little space where the hoses and wires enter.  I figure the air probably exits through those 2 spots and through where the plexiglass sits on the container.  There is plenty of air getting in, so it must be getting out somewhere.

PF - Tek / CAN'T GET RH ABOVE 90!!! Please help!!!
April 05, 2009, 01:14:56 PM
Hey guys...I've tried all kinds of varietions of the following pics to get my RH above 90 and I just can't do it.  In the picture, the clear tube in the left corner is an air tube connected to two rock bublers beneath the hydroton.  The cup in the center goes all the way down to the bottom of the chamber, but has holes in it to keep water in it, and there is an ultrasonic fogger in there.  The right white wire is just my temp gauge.  These are all in a rubbermaid type container with a plexiglass lid.  I've tried putting holes in the lid, covering the holes in the lid, just using the fogger, only using the bubblers, wiping all the moisture off the sides...everything I can think of and I can't get the damn RH above 90...do you think my humidity gauge is bad?  I mean the chamber is being contantly filled with fresh air, bubbled through water, mist from the fogger, temp is good...what am I doing wrong????
Thanks!!!!!!!

#57
I couldn't find one of the humidifiers trout recommended at any local pet stores and I didn't want to wait for shipping, so I bought an ultrasonic fogger and placed it in the center of the chamber.  My humidity is still at 90, so I covered some of the holes I had in the lid to see if that would help raise it.  If that doesn't work, I'll post pics of what I've got and hopefully someone can tell me what I've got to change or fix.

so would I get that, hook it up to my air pump, place the wand in the chamber, but still have my cakes sitting on the hydroton and water bottom?  And I guess you still need some holes in the chamber for the air to escape from, correct?  I remember seeing those tubes in your pictures, now I know what they are!
#59
YEAH, that thing is cool!  And my hydroton IS wet...the water line is very close to the top of the hydroton, so I'll go ahead and add some more hydroton to the top and keep the water well below it.

Thanks man,

So I bought a humidity gauge and it was reading about 87, which is low, but not terrible I guess.  To try to make things better, I went and bought a more powerful air pump to force more air up through the water in my fruiting chamber and added a plexiglass cover which I drilled holes in.  We'll see how things go from here.  I'm thinking that my cakes were suffering from BOTH insufficient FAE and low humidity.
