Title: adding brf to casing
Post by: Fun Guy on April 24, 2009, 08:17:17 PM
I understand if i crumble cakes and case them they are still limited to the amount of nutrient they have.  but to counteract that couldnt you sprinkle like a half cup brf onto casing layer and or mix some into the casing mix?  wouldnt this also be a way to bring back a cake that produced several flushes already, by crumbling casing and adding more nutrient?

No. Adding a nutrient layer would grow something yes, but it is highly unlikely to be what you want. You could clone a healthy shroom to agar and keep it going that way, but you can't reverse the life cycle of the shrooms.

The Center is done when the outside is done, mycelium grows as a network. Why don't you just make BRF casings then? if your going to sprinkle brf ontop for a casing layer? make sure its sterile.

so pw in theory you could take brf and vermiculite that you pc'd, then take a cake that you got like four flushes out of, crumble it and add the sterile brf mix, then case it to revive it and get a whole cycle of casing out of it?   seems like that would be a great way to extend and maximize.

Thats not what I said. I don't think that will work for many reasons, but if you wish to try it make a log and post results.
