Here is this cake of sorts. It was going to be a casing of B+ straw/castings, but when I cased it I pulled the foil container sides out so I could get the casing material down in the edges and over the top. I let that colonize, cut away the baking tray and placed the "cake" on some foil in the FC. The idea being that it will fruit from five sides. (The angle kind of sucks on this pic.)

nice dub can't wait to see what it looks like :)
Damn it! My cake was just starting to knot up and a little trich started to show. I can't remember the method to try to save it. It had to do w/ a salt paste and cutting out the contaminant.
shit dub that sucks, don't know the procedure either but deffientely cut that bitch out... hopefully won't spread
Cut out the contam and pack the area with common table salt. If this doesn't get rid of it you may be able to hold of the evil green long enough to harvest your next flush at least.
Alright, I cut out the trich and packed the holes with a salt paste. My fingers are crossed. You know, I pasteurized the casing this time instead of sterilizing. Maybe that's where I went wrong.

Dub,
I am inclined to agree on that pasteurization, as a possible point of failure. I have seen/heard of the very same events from most that went that route. Thus the reason I have always PC'd Everything!
But as MT stated, you may have bought enough time to get at least a good flush. I might suggest letting this one fruit in isolation. You know, Bad news travels fast!
GL Bro!

Thanks, it is by it's lonesome. Time will tell. I should have just stuck w/ what I know works. Live and learn, again...
Dub,
We all have stumbled. As you said,.... Live and Learn,...but, Remember as well!
Life remains Great! -_-

The tradeoff is between size and speed. The bigger the cake the slower the colonization and the more chance for contamination. I just had to dump two trays with trich. sux.
GL dub. I hope the supa cake makes it through. I would love to see a pic of that giant fruiting. ^_^

So would I! ^_^
This supa cake aint so supa! Put this on in the hall of shame. At least it survived this far.

i guess im new at this, cause that looks great to me, lol. ^_^
dub504, hey man that don't look bad., give it more time i'll bet it will put out some good flushes..
Those that fruited look yummy but it looks to be about the same yield as a half pint cake that was not infected. If you have it isolated then be patient. You may get another flush. IME the next flush tends to stall out with the fruits looking small. Damn trich.
The mean green started to show up again.
Trash it and start over. Better luck next time. Don't forget to sterilize everything.
Bummer on that dude!! Stuff happens, sometimes we can salvage and sometimes we cannot.
At least you got one fruit man ^_^ I got nothing out of mine
-ImAFungi
It's all good. Next time will be better.
i agree with IAmFungi, at least you got something, lol. Good luck on your next run Dub. Cant wait to see what you got cookin. ^_^
Dub,
Take it outdoors, and let nature have its way with the Dble Whopper,..... It's getting nice here in Florida, so depending how your weather is, you might see a little surprise if the UV rays of the sun can eliminate that green.
And, of course,....... Better grow next time!

I'm going to be moving soon and I'll finally have a backyard.
