Getting a money order from the post office only costs a couple bucks.

money orders are pretty safe.  never heard of anyone losing a money order in the mail- no one wants to open / steal a money order that they can't use.  the post office will do one for much less than your bank will.

really...?  maybe this isn't a good enough picture.  it's definitely patterned growth of some sort- definitely not moisture.  i've had jars with weak mycelium before but they didn't look like this.  this is the color of cigarette ash and very thin.

I want to believe that this jar is OK but I'm worried about putting it back into the incubator.  those 3 Qt jars are the last remnants of my GT!

I hope it's contamination... or I just dumped a few perfectly good jars!  It really looks kind of bad... kind of grey and dark, not like healthy mycelium.  I still have the jar in the pic, maybe I'll give it some more time.

What is this bullshit called?  I've never had it before; it's now taken out all of my pint jars (but none of my quarts for some reason)

There should be a contam gallery somewhere, I'd be interested to know all the names and info of the usual subjects.

I've never understood the advantage of that... if an illicit package is intercepted, they'll just ID you based on the post office's records of who rented the box, right?

and if you mean uncolonized at the bottom of the jar, just turn it over and tap it to separate the cake from the bottom.  give it a little breathing room.  worked well for me.

Yeah the fruits are smaller than I expected.  I thought GT's were supposed to get biggish?  I like em though, very pretty when dried.

Brazils are actually next up for me.

I was thinking it looks dry but I mist it pretty well, everyday.  I don't know what it would look like if it were too wet.

yeah i've got high hopes for these, i'm guessing it's gonna be pretty nice.  Just wanted to make sure they didn't seem too dry or too wet.

GTs on millet.  Here we go...

Sorry the second tray is a little blurry, it was the best out of a dozen shots (this camera is way too damn complicated).

Question- some of the primordia are aborting but turning white or light grey instead of black (upper right on the first pic).  This is happening to more than I would like.  Even the ones that look like they'll make it look kind of pale.  Temperature is the only thing off in this operation- I've got them on a heating pad and in front of a space heater but it's really cold in here.  RH has been stable around 90%.  Is this a temperature thing or just a trait of GTs?  I also gave them a good amount of misting, might have overdone it a bit.  Or not... it's hard to tell how dry the casing layer should be.

I like to throw a bit o' lime in for my own edification; never done without it so I don't really know if it makes much difference.  In theory it does, so...

Not much, just a heaping teaspoon or so.  A little goes a long way.

moorhs-

A good way to see what the rue will do without committing to dosage is to powder it up and smoke it once your trip is underway.  The taste is very pleasant.  I usually take a rip or two off of a water pipe and then sprinkle it on my ganja once the first hit sets in and I know it's under control.  You can take it very slowly this way, and you will notice what exactly the rue is doing almost immediately.  If you find it to be a friendly plant for you, then you can go on to oral doses.

If by "bad foods" you mean foods containing tyramine, I think 48 hours is generally considered safe.  Honestly, I think 24 hours is fine.  It's really not going to be a big problem unless you eat a giant bowl of cheese dip or guacamole or something right before or after you take the rue.  You might get a headache if you aren't strict about tyramine, but you probably aren't going to go into cardiac arrest or anything.

Actually, it's probably irresponsible for me to say that so... don't listen to me, do the research!  Check out an ayahuasca forum, aya drinkers know lots more about tyramine interactions.

Personally, I would just do it over.  Think of it as practice.  Besides, anything worth doing is worth doing right.  You want your first grow to go well!

I made aya a few times with caapi (from bouncing bear) but could never get it as effective as the mimosa + rue.  Anyone have recommendations for other suppliers?  I think I'm going to plant some live caapi by the river this season.

i like the idea of making an incubator-style FC.  I need to get another bin of this size anyway so I can double up come spring.
