Title: harvesting
Post by: slopestyler900 on April 27, 2011, 09:19:21 PM
Hey i'm new to the forum so i apologize if theres already a zillion threads on this topic. Please redirect me to other links if you have them. Anyways, I'm in the fruiting stage of growing and i'm wondering when to harvest. I wanna let them go as long as possible to get the most out of them but i don't want the spores to release either. Should i pick them before the veil breaks off the cap or is it ok to let them grow longer? Thanks.

Pick them just as the veil is breaking.

Just watch them closely because one day the caps aren't opening and the next day the are open. It happens fast.

just picked today. The timely responses are appreciated so thanks. one more question, I got a few aborts. I hear they're still good to eat, is this true and if so, should i go ahead and pick them or should i leave them alone to see if they try to keep growing?

Aborts are still good to eat as long as they aren't a dead looking color. Some folks save them up to make tea. I would pick them and allow the next flush room to grow.
