Hi guys,

So it has been two main attempts now using about 22 jars, innoculating with syringed spores from the net. I used the same ingredients both times; vermiculite, brown rice flour & water, at different ratios for different tests. I tried incubating a batch in a draw using a heat mat, but i think i almost, or did, kill quite a few because the temperature went up to 35*C.
I got growth from most of the jars but none more than half the jar.

Please give me advice on perhaps an alternative substrate mix? maybe more nutritous for the myc. And also advice on temperature for incubation.

Much appreciated,

PF - Tek / Substrate Consitency - brf cakes

Howdy fellas,

First batch ever, innoculating my cake jars with syringes. My pressure cooker only fits 3 jars in so i've been doing batches of 3, making up the substrate a bit differently each time as the recipes i've read aren't all the same. I have 2 batches of 3 jars, the first of which i accidently added to much water to the mix and it went gloopy and not grainy. But i thought o well, added some more verm in and spoon it in the jars, p. cooked and then shot it with spores. To my surprise the myc appeared in what was probaly just one day. A few days after i did another 3 jars but with less water, the substrate was crumbly and filled the jar much neater than the prior and i gave it a satisfying compress. That batch however is growing slower than the first at the moment. Just want to know people's preferences of substrate ratios and how much moisture does the verm and brf need?

peace & love

PF - Tek / Capturing and storing your own spores?

Yo yo musheads,

I know this something far from me at the moment, but i wanna learn in advance to save money. Is as simple as catching fallen spores or printing caps on paper? and how do you store them? can they go off?

enlighten me.

PF - Tek / How much should i expect to yield?

Sup bros,

Right so i haven't made my terrarium yet or started incubating, but i rekon my situation will be:

8-10 standard sized jars, fruiting in a terrarium approx 3 x 2 ft. Still pondering over spores but leaning towards B+, Hawaii & Amazonian Cubensis.

This is a question to the experienced masters, reflecting on their past best yields (and worst), could they give me some rough estimates to expect. And also can someone inform me about "flushes", from what i gather each flush is the fruiting of new bodies after a harvest upon a cake? And how many flushes to expect? Is it about 3?

All advice appreciated, cheers.

Hello people and a happy new year!

Right so i'm about to leave for university soon and this term ive decided to have a go at growing my own shrooms. I've learnt the techniques to it and kind figured out everything i need to buy, now im just trying to wise up about buying spores.

So far my moneys on Psilocybe Cubensis (Amazonian), they seem to pretty popular from what ive seen.
I live in the UK aswell and i don't know where the closest place is where they can get shipped from.

All beginner's advice welcome,
cheers.
