Sterilized my jars , cooling now . I put 4 small diameter holes in jar lids and covered with 1 layer of foil. Will this be ok? Will it let enough air in/out thru these 4 small holes . Does anyone use the lids or should I use 3 layers of foil only?
I usually make my lids with four silicone injection ports and one 1/4" hole in the middle filled with Polyfill or each side of the hole covered with Micropore tape. The three layers of foil and dry Vermiculite barrier should work fine though.
hmmm I take it your doing the brf tek so your using verm as a barrier layer as well.... but I used to use 2 pieces of foil, took top layer off to inoculate and then stuck it back on.... I now use polyfil though (super cheap it's used as pillow stuffing) just shove some of that tightly through your hole on lid and you can inoculate through the polyfil itself, works great..... anyways gool luck
