Nice flushes Heartx. Spores dropping in my FC have never seemed to make any difference.

I don't think you should try growing them in your ears. It may look suspicious.

Thanks PW.

Hey look, after all these months, I've finally moved up from newbie. I guess I am a man of few words, but I have done an awful lot of reading and have been able to avoid asking too many silly questions. This is truly an exciting hobby and interesting community to be involved with. Thanks to everyone for your input and assistance. Oh yea and all of the hours of humor.

It grows wild where I live. I have never experienced the effects but I do know that almost every year in the spring around here there is usually an article in the paper about people picking it, ingesting it and becoming extremely ill. No thanks, I'll stick to the fungus.

I always wait about a week after the jars are fully colonized. My jars are not all ready at the same time either. That's just the way this works out most of the time.

That sounds like something that may be quite helpful. Thanks! I am always interested in new avenues to persue in this hobby.

I always roll my cakes in verm after I dunk them the first time, wait about an hour afterwards and mist them with water.

That sounds like way too much humidity coming from your ultrasonic. I have an indoor green house with an ultrasonic attached to it that I only have to turn on for ten or fifteen minutes, two or three times a day, depending on the ambient climate where I am located.

Foam? Three to four days after I put my cakes into my FC they usually become covered with a layer of nice white fluffy Myc. Is that what you mean? Or are you really seeing some kind of bubbly foam? If the latter is the case I have no idea. Maybe someone else on this forum can help.

I bought it at walmart last fall. It's basically a wire frame with four shelves that is covered by a plastic cover. It stands about five feet tall x one and a half feet deep x three feet wide. I am sure that there is something similar on the net at a garden supply sight. I paid about $50.00. Then I purchased a small ultrasonic humidifier on line from Target.com. The model that I purchased is for a child's room and is shaped like an elephant with the mist discharge coming from the trunk, which made it very easy to attach a hose to to supply a cool mist to the green house. I simply unzip the opening twice a day and fan foe FAE. so far it's been working great.

I would tape up all of them. You only need a few on the sides near the top. Or you could monitor your RH and just keep covering holes until you get the reading you want on your gage.

I only tried the shotgun FC. Since then I have moved on to an indoor green house setup using an ultrasonic humidifier. It's much easier to maintain and to keep the RH and temp. stable IMO.

PF - Tek / Honey mixed into BRF cakes.
April 15, 2009, 01:53:54 PM
Fattrout, did you mention in an earlier post that you have been adding honey to your BRF cake mixture? If so, and if you don't mind, How much were you adding to the water for say ten half pint jars? I just started ten new jars of Redboy's this morning and added one Tbsp to 500 Ml of water that I used in the mixture. Thanks for any input.

Polyfill would still allow too much outside environment to seep in and defeat the purpose of sealing off the holes IMO.
