I would think the microwave would cook em up pretty quick if they were fresh. Air drying is fine, once they're cracker dry toss em into a mason jar.

The temps could be the culprit to the slow growth, but not the comp.

How loose is your casing material? Could just be a slow strain, new growth is good! Patch up the new white spots with casing material and carry on with the proper fruiting methods. How long did you let the casing colonize?

Take off the foil, if your doing PF-cakes the half inch/ inch of verm is there to block contams/ same with polyfill/tyvek with grains.

I would only put shredded straw into spawn bags, but you could always try and post your results.

I'd have to agree with malabar. That cake looks like a disgusting health risk, I would'nt eat or feed anything that comes off it to anyone.

I've fruited PF-Cakes that were 90%+ colonized, you should be fine. After the first flush be sure to dunk.

Good eye Malabar, cake looks a bit dry, give it a good ol dunk n roll. Want better flushes? give casings a try.

Those in the pic look like cubes, dont look like libs to me, why on earth would you grow libs on BRF? If they are libs and you want bigger yeilds, use poo/straw, or make outdoor beds!!!!!

Simple is not the best, just gets you by, the most sophisticated fc is the best. But that all comes with experience, a few years at the least. So keep it simple till you're comfortable and capable of movin on up to the east side.
