General topics / Re: Experiences with pftek cake tea
February 13, 2010, 03:19:00 PM
Ahhh feck I just steeped for 10 minutes, shouldn't change the results that much I'd assume. My water was yellowish though. My verm. has similar tinted yellow flakes in it.
edit; Been like an hour now still not feeling anything =[ Oh well would've just thrown out the cake anyway. Least I drank some tea haha

Going to brew up a batch in a little bit. Seems the effects are a matter of opinion from all the threads I've seen. Some say it's a really good trip others say they didn't feel anything. I will let you guys know how my experience goes, have you guys tried this before? If so how was it?
My experience: Nothing had happened so I won't be doing it in the future.

Presuming you used glass jars, discarded the cake immediately. I wouldn't think there'd be a problem provided you properly cleaned the jars after words.

jadzuke, take a look around here. You will notice alot of pictures so don't shy away. Just don't have any identifying information put into the pictures(location, name etc.) in case this is illegal in your area.

Cultivation / Re: Nearly full colonization over night?

Did a quick search on shroomery about that, seems like something neat to do(only read a little). I will finish reading about it tomorrow. I inoculated the sunday that has just passed. I sometimes do lose sense of time(might help if I wasn't lazy and fixed my clocks/computer calenders)

I would be more inclined to send a free print to one of the more active/trusted members here than to a complete stranger...

Well I normally check the jars at night in the dark so no light get in, but what contams look like mycellium growth? Only one I can think of is cobweb mold. I hear it spreads really fast. This is only appearing in my jars I used my spore syringe that I made. What do you guys usually do when you make a spore syringe, and could I have cause cobweb mold through a bad syringe?

Well I made a new batch and use a spore syringe I made I went a bit crazy with the solution. Pushed a bit too hard(I think the syringe losened up) and put like 3cc per jar haha. But anyways one of my jars I think it is nearly fully colonized OVER NIGHT. Maybe a day or two prior but I don't remember seeing any mycellium a few days ago... I know for sure it hasn't even been a week since inoculation yet the jar is nearly fully colonized.

PF - Tek / Re: Pinning Question...

One of my cakes had pinned(and grew) because I had continually checked on them, exposing light. You may have initiated the fruiting stage prematurely. Just scrape off uncolonized parted like everyone else is sayin

if nothing else just boil some of your water and walla! distilled :)
If I'm not mistaken distilled is pure H2O, not just clean water.

So I was just thinking, would a fish tank heater that is keeping watching at a certain temp(26C for example) COOL the water if the room temperature was 30C?

I live on my own, and my parents do know I'm growing mushrooms. I'd rather ask than to share with some friends and possibly do bad to them cause of some bad mushrooms.

I wouldn't consume them even I could grow outside here, downtown and lots of polution I wouldn't want to digest that with mushrooms haha I might as well start saving up for an A/C :)

Well I was just checking out some of my second flush and decided to chew on one, it had a bitter taste(kind of like what a dandelions juices make your hands taste like after you play with them, used to when I was little). I've only had tried mushrooms so I'm not sure what good wet ones should taste like but the taste I had wasn't reassuring so anything you guys could tell me to help me know?
They LOOKED fine but this quote "Eat one wrong mushroom and, up to 2 weeks later symptoms develop, and the only chance of saving your life is a liver or kidney transplant." really makes me weary of them now because I hate surgery/hospitals enough as it is. I only had about 1-2 cm of the base of the stem as a taste test.

I live in an apartment building so I don't think outside growing isn't the best option for me
