okay well played around with the gang valve and put couple more holes in top and RH is constant 87% still kinda curious weither the black caps I had and the deformed caps where from the humidity to high.?.?.?

Just went and bout a digital Fluker"s hygrometer, my humidity is way higher than I thought, at first I figured it was just the Fluker's but I put it in a bag with cap full of wet salt and sealed it for 4 hours.... it read 74% so was practically right on. . .   some of my caps on my casing was turning black so I used tweezers and pulled them because they where looking like they where starting to rot... and a couple of the caps looked like there sliced or not attached ( kinda weird) could this be due to my to high of humidity??? My FC with lava rock, with 14" bubble wand with no water in  it. I put large holes all the way around (except for bottom) to try and lower the RH, I have now even turned off the bubble wand to try and lower humidity... it is at 90% right now and I would like to get it to stay at 87% or so.... so do I just put more holes in the FC? sorry so long guys here's some pic to help.... thanks

put my casing of amazonians in 50/50peat verm with some oyster and lime, started seeing pinning on the 23rd... u giving them enough light to initiate pinning?? other than that good luck. . . .

just kinda curious about that one cap that is all blotchy looking, it was growing without a cap for a while so I imagine it is just the cap growing???

just came home from a long day of playing halo and call of duty at bro's and 1 of my casing's is now pinning yay... I took and put it in a FC that I have set up at 90% not sure exactly how tall the pins are supposed to be before I change the humidity so just curious if I should wait till there a certain height or when there first visible?.?.? thanx

decided to order these to books of "Psilocybin Mushrooms of the World: An Identification Guide"  & "Mushroom Cultivator: A Practical Guide to Growing Mushrooms at Home"     ... watched that  cool video "6 ways mycelium can save the world" or whatever it was called that was in a past forum and it caught my interest so..... I'm definitely interested in soaking up all this cool mycology shit so any body have those books or heard good things???

yea i decided to do casings instead of the cakes with all of them..so I had to build a few more fc had everything so wasn't big deal. just seems smarter in terms of yield  I would love to have mushies vacuum sealed away and hopefully the start of 2010 i will

ya feed store had the lime and oyster shells got a 5 lbs of shells and it will last me for ever probably it was like 8 bucks.. . . .

oh and it's a 50/50 sphagnum peat moss and verm... with around 2-3 % lime and around 15% oyster shells. . . Merry X-mas to all

so can it be hazardous? and what should I cover the bread ten with??... i think somebody said something about covering then tin in plastic.... but if it can eat through ten then I'm guessing it could go through plastic.....  oh and I'm getting the "mountain tops" of mycelium all over my casing that I have in the FC been there for 5 days and is looking super nice any chance could be done b4 xmas?? tried to take pics but super hard to see good.... thanks

Read somewhere on shroomery forum about mycelium being able to eat through tin foil... just kinda wonder because I have 3 cassing done in a bread tin and have 3 more i'm doing tomorrow.... do I need anything covering the aluminum??? thanks and pics soon

going to go ahead and do the casing 101 http://www.shroomery.org/50/Casing-101 and was wondering how much contamination comes into play? , is using a clean box advised since I do not have a hepa(yet)   going to use peat (potting soil based)/verm lime flour and oyster shells for acidic level.... now if it's a potting soil based peat then less lime and oyster is used to raise the acidic level? thanx  oh and that tropic air works awesome both FC's are 99+ thanx for tip
