Cool temps will slow things down.

The tek doesn't seem too bad, but if you open it before it is fully colonized, I could see contamination problems. Also, mycellium does like to breathe a little so some sort of filtered air hole would help it colonize faster and you would want to seal the holes that were poked with the syringe.
Quart jars or mycobags seem like the better option when it comes to popcorn. Once popcorn is 30% colonized you can shake the jar and it will finish off really quick. Then you can take that and spawn it at a rate of 1:4 to pasteurized horse poo or donkey poo (they work best) and fill up the bottom of a plastic tote tub at least 3 inches deep and grow some really big ones.

I wouldn't inoculate manure directly. Sterilized manure is more prone to contamination than pasteurized. Also, make sure the outside of the popcorn is dry before you sterilize it in the pressure cooker. Some people use a hairdryer for this. It will save you headaches in the future.
Happy Growing!

Oh yeah, strain out the mushy bits from the tea, no need to drink (gag) those!

Firstly, you'll want to dry them as quickly as possible. 7 days is too long. Cracker dry is what you want. One day in front of the fan on a screen, then into a bag with desiccant works well. I use a dehydrator with an adjustable temp. 29 C is about as high as I go.

For storage, I vacuum seal them with a desiccant packet and put them in the freezer. They will last a long time.

Grinding them up will cause the psilocybin to oxidize faster. There is more surface area for the molecule to be exposed to air, so I would wait until you are going to use them before grinding them up.

I don't know how often you are eating them but you will get a tolerance. You'll want to wait at least a week between dosing. I think you get psychologically use to the experience in a way if you take them often at the same dosage too.

Just know that fresh dosage is one tenth of dried so 40 gr fresh would be equal to 4 gr dry.

If you really want to have fun next time, grind them up and steep them in hot water for 15 min, add some fresh lime juice (the acids break the psilocybin down to psilocin, which is what happens in your stomach when you eat them) flavor with your favorite tea. I like fruit tea. Drink and blast off.

I agree with anno. Case with a non-nutritious layer after the pasteurized substrate is fully colonized. Truth be told, a casing layer is not needed with bulk substrates and cubes. You may want to pasteurize longer. I usually go for at least 3 hours just to make sure the center has reached proper temps. That may be overkill but it also depends how much substrate you are making too. 73 deg C is perfect for pasteurization going higher and you start killing off good bacteria.

I use the pillow case method for making bulk substrate. After it is pasteurized I hang it overnight to drain. The next day it will be perfect field capacity. You can twist/squeeze it and almost no water will come out. Horse poo is perfect for this as it will be fluffy and moist, not muddy.

Bulk subs need to breathe. Take that plastic off of it. It will be fine. You just need air circulation, nothing intense, just very slight and light. Less is more. IMO cobweb is usually from stale air, but maybe your sub was too wet. Your temp seems fine.

Lastly, don't spray bleach on your sub. Fruits don't like it. If you want to kill cobweb use H2O2 Hydrogen peroxide. If it's bad use full strength. The cob web will sizzle like an infection.
Good luck

The vermiculite layer is the filter when using the pf/brf tek. That's all that's needed. Let them breathe.

Howdy, bleach will evaporate and can cause rosecomb. It's a mutation in the fruit that's ugly but still edible. It looks like the cap of the mushroom flips up, turns inside out. A better solution is to wash the Perlite with soapy water, rinse, drain... Then, hydrate the Perlite with salty water. Table salt works fine. Also, don't set the cakes directly on the Perlite. Use foil or a jar lid etc.. Good luck!
