Damn... I'm gonna have to case on my next grow. You guys find that the microwave teks out there work well for the casing material?

I had them flipped over for a little bit, with a small air gap at the bottom by gently tapping them, but after 4 days I flipped them back because the vent/inoculation holes were not able to breath, and I thought that that may slow things down. I know, I know patience is key, I may try to trim off a couple of cakes so those may start to fruit, but if they fail at least I will know to never try it again and I'll have 8 more in backup. Anyone have any success trimming off uncolonized parts of a BRF cake? Thanks

Yeah... looks great. If you end up with to many caps, you could just give a few to me... or not... Nice grow!

When you guys use popcorn, is it still necessary to use a PC? Does the popcorn contain endospores? just wondering, haven't got a pc yet and would love to try a different tek. Thanks Guys

PF - Tek / One week after full colonization

So I have 10 1 pint jars of BRF anywhere from 90% to 99+% colonization. They have been colonizing for about a month. The areas that started to colonize first are now contracted away from the walls of the jar. They look like they are shrinking and fuzzing up a bit. I was thinking that that part of the cake is ready to fruit. I have read that the mycelium takes about a week to consolidate and digest the substrate. about 3/4 of all my cakes are shrunk down and starting to get fuzzy. DO you think I could take a couple of my cakes and brush off the TINY bit of un-colonized BRF and try to fruit? I know I should wait, but my bro is gonna be in town in a couple weeks and I wanna make sure I have a little bit for the rare occasion he is in the country. Thanks guys.

When letting grains colonize there is no contamination layer, like in the BRF, so thats why you need to use a filter for FAE in the jar? I hope to do grains after a couple of BRF tek style cakes.

I'm guessing in a FC would work the best. sorry man, being a smartass. I am so new to this, but I will be interested to see what others have to say.

I've heard people in other posts say its fine. Check some past posts for the info.

I'm also very new at this too, but it looks to me like there is way too much verm in the mix. Maybe that's where some of the condensation is coming from. My first inoculation I shot my spores into the verm layer on top by accident, on two of 5 jars. They eventually took. Time is the key.!

The ver you grind up fine is for the roll? I figure as much but want to be sure. What is the difference in getting it fine or leaving it as is?

Sweet dub.... I'll try the 24 hour dunk between flushes. Can't wait to post pics of the "fruits" of my labor. Well actually of the myceliums labor, but whatever. I hope I am successful.

well my pal is fine, he said all is well and he doesnt expect to pull that stunt again anytime soon. he did mention the words "extraction" and "methanol", cant wait to hear about round 2.
Anytime extraction and methanol are used together, involving body parts, my interest is sparked. Glad to hear he is alright. I think shrooms are for oral ingestion. (or possibly, for some people, ----, as a previously stated in a past thread)

So I know that after birthing my BRF cakes, I should dunk in cold water for 12-24 hours in cold water and roll em in some dry verm. After reading many other posts I have concluded that it is best to dunk and roll after every flush as to moisten them up for the next flush. I was looking for someone with experience as to how long to dunk them after the first flush. Also, what might be some pros and cons to dunking them longer or shorter.
Hope to have my first 4 Pints ready to birth in 2 weeks or less. Colonizing fast, but not fast enough.. ha ha it's never fast enough is it?
Thanks guys
