I didnt know your RH could be high.  My Hydrometer is pinned at 100%.  I can try opening my box more, i check them in the AM and then again late night.  I will try to get pics out, the stems and caps have shriveled to nothing. Should I pull my other buddies out of there?

PF - Tek / NEED HELP FRUITING STALL
November 01, 2010, 11:51:33 AM
hI

I had one cake in a dozen that grew myc fast, so I put it in my FC before the rest of the gang. I usually case them but I stuck this little guy alone. It started growing fine, nice long thick stems, then it stopped and got really skinny at the end, my caps never finished and never opened. The myc is all over the stems and is taking over the caps as well. My humidity is fine and they get plenty FAE????????  what the hell,   I put a few more guys in with him but they havn't started rolling yet.

PF - Tek / Made a mistake. HELP!!!
October 08, 2010, 07:54:42 AM
I have a dozen pftek jars incubating and I made a mistake and left my temp at 88 degrees.  I noticed and turned it down. Well, they are growing except for the bottoms of some jars.  Should I keep them incubating? or cut off the bottoms and crumble them up in casing???

General topics / Re: Mycopath.com sucks

I use mycopath sometimes.  He has been late in sending orders lately.

I traded emails last month with him and found out his young daughter had taken ill and past away.

FYI, His reputation with me was has been good over time so I'm going to continue using him.  I just don't put myself in a situation that a rush order is necessary.

General topics / Re: grain bags/jars
January 07, 2010, 05:43:32 AM
I have had trouble with my substraight in the past so I was also looking for pre sterile grains,  the jars all the websites sell are so overpriced its disgusting but you can get a grain bag with 2 1/2 pounds of rye sterilezed for about $20 depending on the shipping.  I have used mycopath a few times and never had an issue, got my stuff in about a week or 10 days.  I know his website was having some problems recently but if you email him off the contact us link from his site he will make it up for you.  Hope this helps

General topics / Growing wild in CT
June 11, 2009, 05:42:26 AM
If there is anyone from the new England area, Have you seen any species growing wild here?

I found a few in my yard and run to the computer to try and identify.  I wasn't 100% so I left them alone but they looked a lot like liberty caps. I didn't think the northeast was a suitable place for wild growth?

I think they are going to be on my pizza soon.

PF - Tek / Pinning on a contaminated cake
June 04, 2009, 07:34:36 AM
I have my cakes in my fc and one is starting to pin.  I noticed a green spec on the top of the cake on the other side of the cake.  What should I do?  Cut off a portion of the cake or use the peroxide/water method?  Its been so long since I got some fruit, I dont want to loose these cakes.  HELP!!!!!!

Get rid of that hygrometer, I have the same one and out of the box it read 70%, I used it for a few days in my fc and it still read 70%?  I took it out of the fc and put it in a dry place overnight, the next morning, guess what, 70%.  I through it out...

I have my f/c in a closet where there is no electric, My fc is running about 80% humidity.  I blocked all the holes and added a little more water. What else can I do to raise the humidity?

I dont have space in my incub to make a new batch just yet.  Do the syringes need refrigeration or freezing?  I'll be pissed if they go bad.  Thanks...

i think i had the same issue after boiling, the sub got very pasty looking and clumpy. Should I use the larger verm as well?  or maybe too much rice flour?  The mycelium is growing slowly, we will see what happens.
