Cultivation / cased cakes were left without care...
June 25, 2006, 01:42:55 PM
sometimes it happens...

I was on a trip for 10 days and 300 km from my shroom growing laboratory, so I had no possibilities to take care of them.

look at the pictures and you'll see how they grew without any air exchange and without any water addition...

first STROPHARIA

anno are they Ok for consumption? ate one fresh, no negative effects...

and second GOLDEN TEACHER
this casing dried out and mushrooms stoped to grow

this one decided to colonize more space, so I pumped in some water and will wait for the results

General topics / HELP to IDENTIFY...
April 09, 2006, 12:40:11 AM
Good Hello Cultivators,

I would like You to help me to identify psilocybe cubensis strain...

2 years ago I don't even knew that it is cubensis, I just knew that these are hallucinatory...

Now after my interest and growing I wondered what size they were before drying, because they were dried and remained? pretty big.
Also the caps are like bronze, very differently from own cultivated, were dried caps are dark brown.

SO, WHAT IS THIS STRAIN?

P.S. If you really don't know, don't trouble to explain

THANKS

Cultivation / Casing soil PH
March 17, 2006, 10:01:51 PM
If somebody want to case mycelium cakes, he should add any powder which? contains high amounts of CaCO3 to reduce acidity if the soil is acid...

PH level range from 1 to 14.

1 means that soil is acid. 14 means? alkaline. And 7 means that soil is neutral.

the soil with 7 PH level could be used for casing mushrooms... if the PH level is 6, 5 or lower you should add substance which will raise the PH level and the soil will be neutral.

Substances in powder:

- limestone
- dolomite
- whiting (chalk)
- even ash

Cultivation / Contamination! LOOK AT...
February 09, 2006, 12:39:53 PM
I got somehow mold in one of the jars and decided to show how it looks like...
This jar was inoculated the last and witout changing the needle, covered with 2 layers of the regular foil.
All others are in perfect conditions and colonizing the jars very fast...

When I opened the lid and took out te cake I was amazed, because I felt like I was in the woods picking fresh mushrooms :) I love this smell. This is my first encounter with homegrown mycelium, so it really interesting and surprising, therefor mushrooms bring miracles...

ENJOY :)

I think it's a good topic to place your own contamination pictures and comments.
I believe it will help someone to avoid these experiences with mold or with other contaminants...

GOOD LUCK
