Cultivation / Re: LIQUID CULTURE
November 25, 2011, 04:44:37 PM
The best mixture you could have for an LC that I know of is light malt extract and dextrose, the ratios I don't know. But in any case I'm sure they can be found around. I don't personally believe in liquid cultures for the production of mycelial mass...

I guess it's that time of the year...
I GTG'd 12 jars with B+ strain, and spawned 5 each to coir in 2 60qt tubs. The other two I will use to GTG 12 more jars, and carry on the lineage. The tubs were both spawned today round 8pm, in 10 days I will take them out of their black plastic prisons and put them on display for you all. Hope this goes as well as my last go round. These containers have a slight bit less surface area than my last containers making for less fruit, but it is however a deeper substrate hopefully making for a size compensation that would be comparable. I usually expect almost a pound dry over a 4 flush period. We shall see.

General topics / Re: Buying From Amazon: Is it Safe?
February 27, 2011, 11:52:56 PM
The reason it shows all of the other mushroom grow supplies is because they use the "those who bought this item, also purchased" theme on their site. And wouldn't ya know, most people that buy canning jars and pressure cookers happen to be the ones buying coir and grain etc.
You have nothing to fear, it's just an automated site recommendation feature.

That was quite enjoyable. I hope he develops a patent for the bio waste breakdown that he did with the pleurotus, that would be very beneficial to the earth.

Cultivation / Re: limestone flour and chalk question??
February 22, 2011, 10:45:05 AM
Limestone flour is what they use to mark the lines in highschool football fields. Take a shop vac out there and you'll have as much as you'll ever need! :) Or go to a farmer's supply store...

In my humble opinion, stick to SporeWorks.com or RalphstersSpores.com, and yes, sclerotia would be a good idea to start with considering that all of the growth is done inside of the jar and would be the easiest to grow. Psilocybe Mexicana grows fastest followed by Galindoi then Tampanensis. You could have something to eat in as little as six weeks, research.

Cultivation / Re: Straw basket troubles, diagnosis?
January 08, 2011, 07:48:32 PM
I was worried it was bad genetics, but did your blobs look like pinheads at first and just keep growing? That's all they seem to want to do... Amen to coir, I'll make sure not to put all of my eggs in to one basket next time, or spawn...
Stick with mono tubs I will young padawan...

Cultivation / Straw basket troubles, diagnosis?
January 08, 2011, 05:09:02 PM
Alright, I have been trying to get some light shed on this particular problem for a little while now and no one seems to have an answer. Straw basket is forming primordial blob like growths, but no pins, they just keep expanding. Temp is at 75-77 consistently, humidity is at 95% consistently, FAE is very regular 2-3X an hour and still refuse to pin. I have seen this type of growth on straw before, and most claim it is bad genetics and this will most likely refuse to pin or create fruit bodies, but at the moment I refuse to readily believe that nonsense.

This is not a photo entrance or nomination by any means, but here is one of my older setups from a few years back that I was planning on converting into a "Martha like" closet and doing mini monos on. I didn't want to see it sit dormant for too long so I'm sifting through ideas, thoughts welcomed...

The other picture is my incubator that holds either 72 pint jars, or 48 quart jars, just a basic water float setup with a nifty weather gauge.

So... What happened!?!?
Did you get some pre and post harvest pics?
They looked great last I saw  ^_^

Yeah, RR said something about placing spawn in the snow for months at a time and within days of the spawn being introduced back into proper growth parameters, noticed growth that appeared normal and unhindered by the extreme conditions.

General topics / Re: Pressure Cooker
December 21, 2010, 09:28:06 AM
I have 2 Presto 16qt pressure cookers, that fit 7 quart sized jars per cook. Bought them at Walmart for around 65 bucks a piece, one in Michigan, and one in Washington. The 23qt version, from what I've seen, fits the same amount of quart sized jars standing upright as my 16qt cookers. They have the same diameter, they're just taller (meaning you can sit 2 or 3 on their sides above the other jars fitting 9 or 10 in all). The Amazon ad however is a good deal, unless the shipping is an astronomical price.

So, how exactly did a log of your grow end up on facebook? Someone copy it from the forum and post it up there? And was your name SPECIFICALLY used to reference the grow?

How did you prep your jar lids? Did you do the whole tyvek top scenario or filter patches? Medi tape?

Google.com is you best friend no matter what you are looking for.
And Morrels commonly grow all across the United States, learn and study LC (Liquid Culture) and you can start a grow from a wild specimen. Good luck.

It's kind of difficult when your fruiting chamber is a giant trash bag, but I think my best bet would be to cut small slits all around the bag and set a fan on low like dub said, mist her in the morning and night with clean water and see how she goes. The only reason I am short on supplies is because I just transitioned across the country and only have half of the stuff I had. I still need my shelving unit and my LC supplies shipped :(. O well, wish me luck. Post pics when I unpack the cam...

All of these places ship to the United States, the places I have ordered from always use discreet packaging and carry viable product. To my knowledge these are the best resources that can be found via the internet.

Papaver Somniferum (OpiumPoppy)
www.Exjordanary-Seeds-And-Herbs.com (seasonally expensive)
www.OneStopPoppyShoppe.com (means what it is)
www.KTBotanicals.com (thorough selection)
www.WorldSeedSupply.org (thorough selection

Lophophora Williamsii/Fricii/Diffusa (Peyote and its relatives)
www.RarExoticSeeds.com (excellent prices)
www.KadasGarden.com (wide selection, decent pricing)

Trichocereus (all relatives specifically containing mescaline)
www.Exjordanary-Seeds-And-Herbs.com (good pricing on Trichocereus)
www.KTBotanicals.com
www.CSucculent.com
www.WorldSeedSupply.org
www.KadasGarden.com (wide selection, decent pricing)

Erythroxylum Coca (Cocaine Plant)
www.CocaRicky.com (high priced but your only option)
$140.00 for 10 seeds last I knew, but they have always been viable and shipped discreetly and with great packaging. These can be out of stock on occasion since it is hard to get E. coca to produce seeds readily, and the seeds only stay viable up to a month in good contitions. He sells them under the name Erythroxylum Coca var. Ricky or Tavares, but that is just a marketing name, they have been confirmed genuine E. coca.

Salvia Divinorum (The Diviner or Divine Sage)
www.KTBotanicals.com (live plants only at a decent price)
Cannot buy seeds over the internet because Salvia Divinorum plants do not readily produce seeds.

I hope this serves as a good directory for those interested in those hard to find ethnobotanical plants, especially the holy grail Erythroxylum Coca.
