i set up two fc's about a week ago. i think i had way too many holes drilled to start off. so i taped up most of them, leaving a couple just above the pearlite and at the top. got rid of crappy hygrom. and bought a digital. still can't get rh above 85%. the lids are not "airtight". does that matter? i just put suran wrap over the top and placed the lid back on. temp is fairly steady at 76 degrees. any advice for a newbie. got 10 cakes colonized already in the fc's.

what do u do with the cakes/casings after they do not produce anymore? can u maybye make tea??

does anything have to be done to a casing after the 1st flush? how long in between flushes??

is there a difference between rye seed and rye grain? is organic better to use? i am having some trouble finding it locally, just outside philly.

besides leaving them out, what is the best method for drying? i need them dry enough to store.

first, does a lawn and garden store carry rye seed?? and second, how long will a colonized jar of rye keep if i can't fruit it immediatly. how should it be stored for that perod of time???

is casing when you crumble the cakes into a pan/tub? what do you mix with it? what r the pros and cons of this method?? can someone give me  more details???

just ordered some b+ and golden teachers. this my 1st attempt. i ordered the spores from a site recommended by several posts on this forum. gonna try the simple step-by-step method this site gives ya. don't have a pressure cooker. can someone tell me exactly how to do it in a pot?? does refrigeration really work for faster pinning/fruiting?? any other tips for a novice??
