cool thanks.  It is day 3 and there is some definite new myc growth all soft and fluffy and pure white.  I think thats a good sign they have recovered from the dunk and roll and are about ready to give it up to me.  hee hee.

Cultivation / adding brf to casing
April 24, 2009, 08:17:17 PM
I understand if i crumble cakes and case them they are still limited to the amount of nutrient they have.  but to counteract that couldnt you sprinkle like a half cup brf onto casing layer and or mix some into the casing mix?  wouldnt this also be a way to bring back a cake that produced several flushes already, by crumbling casing and adding more nutrient?

agree agree  you have to realize spore concentration in your syringe is not uniform.  some jars get lucky and some dont.  but sounds like you will have a full healthy load.  good work.

You want to stop mycelial growth and have them put all their energy into fruiting. My 2 cents.

exactly

If your jars are contaminated you will see growth of the contam.  it will be a color other than white.  the low temp may cause slow growth but i dont remember hearing anyone wait longer than two weeks.  where did you get your spores from? also how did you have them stored.  any temp over 90 can kill your spores.

what should properly hydrated perlite feel like.  wet to touch or almost dry.  I think I let it dry out because too many holes.  I have taped up like 60%-70% of them and rewet the perlite.  will post results.  I however did not tape any of the bottom holes because i surmised that the airflow threw the perlite is the most important.  am i right or should i tape up most of these as well?

I did mine open air two weeks ago after lysol and oust every ten minutes for a half hour with ac turned off so no air movement.  I have no contams and great myc growth.

there is no standing water, the perlite was rinsed and thoroughly soaked but drained.  it feels almost dry to the touch now but i know still has water trapped in it.  will update when i have time to fix some holes.

PF - Tek / shotgun fc not a reality?
April 14, 2009, 05:19:50 PM
so I have not hit any bumps in the road so far as I have 12 jars great myc growth and no contams.  two weeks in and I am about a week and a half away from the fc. So I thought I better build my shotgun fc today to make sure that it is gonna work.  I have done overresearch on everything including this, and I followed directions to a tee.  But the rh level is between 85-90.  this is obv not gonna work.  Am I missing something or do I just need to go to the petco and get some air pumps and a new bin.  I knew a shotgun fc was to easy to be true.
