What all do you need to look out for in your cakes when they are colonizing?

anything thats not white, and ive read that a strong odor such as dirty feet could be a bad sign but when my jars were incubating there was a bit of a pungent smell, dont know that i would compare it to feet but my jars were fine

some contaminents produce toxins that can kill you, so if its not white, throw that shit out
