PF - Tek / good air/bad air?
August 19, 2007, 10:48:11 AM
does N E one know if it is important that air in a room needs to be circulating for the colonization process?

scenario: a room in the basement(@ 10' X12') no windows and door closed.

another matter not discussed or mentioned in any TEK.

Q # 2- is there a particular syringe tek I should avoid? I need to sterilize for near future use

thanx

Cultivation / Info needed: bleach dunk or etc.
August 18, 2007, 08:54:56 PM
Dudes, when a situation occurs such as cakes turned bluish green, from what who knows, and not advancing anymore, starting to smell a bit moldy, can a bleach dunk or something else help to snap them out of that stage? I believe there is a chance for revival but I'm new at this beginning stage, sooo.

they were in my opinion, birthed late, then late to begin fruiting then if that isn't enough, went haywire. Turning blue (choking up?). fanning and misting and light religiously each day best I could. begin to pin then went weird. see pics in the forum at the bottom of the topic, "how bout now pics, updated".

PF - Tek / Starting over,,, Anno? ,Baph?
August 18, 2007, 02:56:53 PM
i'm going to grow some damned shrooms if it kills me. I'm thinking of using the tek for simple minds again,if that's allright. have all the components already.

Who knows the correct mix ratio of verm/brf and water in "US" measure, cups, not ml. for 12 1/2 pt jars. or 6 no matter.
is it 7 cups verm and 2 cups brf.? how much water in measure.

Also I need to know what other info I need to follow. Apparently I read too much info from too many different sources. failed two 12 jar batches, just in time for fruiting too.

some of those cakes by the way are starting to grow new myc, now I really don't know how to handle them. where are the dunk teks or info.

thanx for all your patience with me. I'm a damned good laborer, somewhat creative, but not a very good brainer.

I don't like giving up. thank you very much.

I think my project went south on me. the whole damned thang, just when it was sposta git good.

any advice concerning the latest pics (of the bad)I sent in the cultivation forum, Topic: "How bout now? Pics. Updated"[/u].

I think I failed, and for several reasons of which I hope I learned a few things. Other than that I needed info that wasn't mentioned or covered in the TEK's which I studied for a couple of months before attempting.

anything: questions and suggestions please and thanx

I did gain from replies, tips and suggestions as well as criticism from ya'all which I appreciate.

thanx for continuing to help with a lost cause.

Cultivation / Dead mycellium???
July 31, 2007, 06:56:30 PM
could use some input, like for reals.

How can I tell if the cakes are dying? the myc not looking too good on the cakes in the tub with holes tek. it looks like the myc has gone flat or something, not good white color anymore.

they started out real good. now lookin kinda sickly. gunna be sad to waste a dozen cakes.

I have a few other cakes in a plain dark dark blue tub with wire mesh over perlite and
covered the top with saran wrap which I fan out three times per day and spray the sides.  and very small light about two feet above for approx. 6-8 hours/daily. don't know what the RH is but still lookin good. almost two weeks now and cakes are not fully covered with fuzz.

Cultivation / light on the subject
July 22, 2007, 10:13:48 PM
at what point is light introduced to PF cakes after being put into the FC on damp perlite (with hole all over all 6 sides)

Is the energy saving fluorescent light sufficient? I think 13 watts produces 60 watts of light. and several hours per day?

does that also go for the tub tek without holes where fanning and wetting?

PF - Tek / FC lid with or without holes?
July 16, 2007, 03:29:23 PM
tell ya what, everybody's high or what?

the video tek shows that guy drilling the hell out of the tub and lid (all 6 sides), he's trippin too cuz after he puts the cakes rolled in verm on the perlite in the tub he puts a completely different lid on, without holes, plus the lid is white.

what happened to the lid with all of the holes? will the moisture go out the holes too fast? does'nt the moisture need to be  trapped for humidity to be effective?.

coolest room in the house here is in the basement at close to 80* in the warm months that is, and not very much  air circulation, I guess thats, ok?.

General topics / Virtual Paranoia?
July 09, 2007, 07:11:37 PM
My bad guys. I just can't seem to want to spread pics on some website I know nothing about, of something that could come back and bite me in the ass. Such as pics of whats going on inside my jars so I can get an opinion from ya'all so I know what to do next. colonizing for 2 months now (minus 4 days)

Is there no way I can upload the pics in the forum somehow?

also, now that I've drilled the hell of all six sides of a new tub, bottom included, then 3 inch perlite.  excess water drains out the bottom, so now I need a pan to catch it in? the video wasn't too complete.

PF - Tek / New "Q" bout colonization
June 29, 2007, 06:59:40 PM
Hay ya'all of ya,

two batches of jars, different rooms in the house, one of which was started and still is in double tub tek to maintain temp. the second batch in plain opaque single tub.

the tub tek jars have condensation and the second doesn't. the second was started 5 days after the first and lookin kind of dry. Colonizing is going well in both.

would it be good idea to swap location of the batches and try to get moisture in the second batch or just do the experimento (which I have no prob with).

I would like opinion please. and thanx.

PF - Tek / URGENT:Gettin the "BLUES"
June 20, 2007, 07:12:45 PM
ok guys, I don't get this,

it has been 5 weeks today, myc in the jars lookin pretty good. until about 2 days ago when I noticed some soft bluing on the very bottom (not the sides at all) of damn near half (6) of the jars.

I am wondering if sitting all this time on their asses waiting and striving to colonize if they are getting tired or what?

Is it definately contam or will it go away if I turn em upside down so they can finish, breathe or something (you know, exercise of some kind)? I have had them at a steady 79-80 degrees in a dark colored double tubs with aquarium heater (PF incubator), and covered with a bath towel the whole time.

Another batch of 10 I have had in opaque tub, no heater and covered with towel and they are lookin allright taking awful long time for mycellium to cover the BRF and not very thick either. they are about 5 days (one month since innoc) behind the above batch. The MYC is covering ok but is thin and can  still see the subtrate, kinda of transparent. no bluing on those yet anyway.

thanks for inputs, guys

Cultivation / spores vs. mycellium
June 03, 2007, 08:19:42 PM
does the amount of innoculate determine the quantity? For instance: if I use less innoc per jar than if I would have used more per jar would the flushes be greater, would the size of the fruit be bigger/smaller etc. considering the jars fully colonized either way.

Cultivation / Upside Down Myc.
May 30, 2007, 07:57:08 PM
Hay all,

is there any reason or is it necessary to turn the jars upside down no fanning during colonization correct?

Cakes just sit in the jars until fully colonized; top, sides, bottom too, with the lids and alum tops on tight without breathing until birth which is when pins first appear?

also, could I use the incubator to keep the temp controlled for fruiting the cakes with perlite and the wire mesh.

PF - Tek / Terrarium ???
May 28, 2007, 10:00:49 AM
Hay ya'all,

How bout that Poor Mans Terrarium? is that sufficient for good yield? It calls for 1 1/2 to 2 inch of perlite but  their wire mesh is cut just 1 inch wider at each end making it 2 inches longer, to bend down rendering only one inch raise from the bottom of the container, wihch leaves the mesh sitting on top of the perlite, yes?

I like the idea along with the simplicity. What say you? or what does your opinions have to offer?

Thanks , axis
