Title: Contamination! LOOK AT...
Post by: atinama on February 09, 2006, 12:39:53 PM
I got somehow mold in one of the jars and decided to show how it looks like...
This jar was inoculated the last and witout changing the needle, covered with 2 layers of the regular foil.
All others are in perfect conditions and colonizing the jars very fast...

When I opened the lid and took out te cake I was amazed, because I felt like I was in the woods picking fresh mushrooms :) I love this smell. This is my first encounter with homegrown mycelium, so it really interesting and surprising, therefor mushrooms bring miracles...

ENJOY :)

I think it's a good topic to place your own contamination pictures and comments.
I believe it will help someone to avoid these experiences with mold or with other contaminants...

GOOD LUCK

This is not bacteria, this is mold.

What you did was not very smart. Now you have all those mold spores all around your place, which makes the chances of contamination much higher for your next grows.

You should NEVER do what you did, always throw contaminated cakes away OUTSIDE of your house.

well, but this kind of mold I think we all have at home. Otherwise nobody would get that. Just leave the bread for a longer time and you'll get it :)
When I realized that there is someting wrong with the jar - it was immediatly taken out from the place were others are...

This is true.
But the higher the concentration of mold spores at your home, the higher the chances you will contaminate your next grow, therefore, see above.
