if you gotta itchin to grow some mush try some gourmet varieties like oyster or lions mane, there are a lot of others, and you can eat them with no ill side effects. a. muscaria can be bought at places like bouncing bear botanicals.

Hey Jeff.  I'm just starting my first Oyster grow as well.  I have popcorn colonized and ready to go, I will be pasteurizing straw later today and trying to grow laundry-basket-tek style.  I talked to a professional grower who says what I'm doing won't work, but I'm knee deep in it now, so we'll find out.

"professional" growers will try to discourage you with misinformation to keep folks from gettin in on their business! lol yeah RR has the laundry basket tek in his videos.

those are awesome! next time you do bulk ditch the layers and mix your spawn well, cuts colonization down to three days or so, five at the most, mix it 50/50 with spawn and watch it take off, also grind your sub, poo, coir, whatever in a blender til its fine and field cap, mix with 30% verm, sterilize, let cool, mix equal parts spawn, see how that works for ya. also for bigger fruits try a straw heavy mix, straw can produce some bigguns!

how long are you leaving the caps on the foil? a good twenty four hours is recommended for good dark prints. one option you have to collect spores is a swab of the gills>agar>grain and/or LC. use a sterilized dry q-tip and take the swab in a glove box. also you could be picking them too soon.

try lysol to sterilize your glove box and 70% alcohol to clean it, peroxide isnt enough, if its clean you should be good on your needle problem. what i do to make sure the needle is on is give it a twist as you pull the cap off, do it enough times and you wont even have to think about it, just get in the habit of twisting it snug as you remove the cap. ive had several loose needles right out of the package, you'd be surprised.
