Yup and believe me the shrooms feel ya so if it's right for ya it's right for the shrooms :p

Well Baphomet it just ensures, that any contaminants in the substrate are killed prior to inoculation. This way you're SURE the substrate is clean.

Yup, vote for 90 minutes :)

Also the temperature seems a bit high, I've read that if the cakes are reluctant to fruit it might help to "shock cool" them. Putting them in the fridge (not freezer!) will do the job. Only thing is it might raise the time in between flushes.

Agree with Baphomet. Get a hygrometer! You can find them in pet stores where they sell terrarium stuff. Got mine for only 10 bucks with a thermometer attached.

Started my second breed and everything worked way better. My advices for inocculation through birthing are:
1. Don't use too much of the syringe for each jar. This will upset the water / substrate ratio and growth might be hindered.
2. Keep the temperature below 28 ° C since the growing process produces warmth itself and 30 ° C is the growth optimum (at least for cub that is).
3. After the first mycelium shows, take the tape off of the jars to ensure enough gas exchange.
4. Should jars not fully colonize though to the bottom try flipping the jars.
5. BE PATIENT! It might take up to 5 weeks for full colonization.

Good luck!

Sorry guys but this is a bit ridiculous. You're all right when it comes to inoculating petri dish. Using syringes and burning the tip red hot in between jars will perfectly do the job with PF-Tek. Last time I've inoculated it wasn't even in a sterile environment yet no contamination happened. So chill a bit, use the syringes and burn the tip in between jars... tellin ya it will be alright.  -_-

yup, shrooms are not plants, no artifical light needed period!

true Baph... took me about a year to get results although it could've been way shorter if I had used PF-Tek in the first place. I was trying to cultivate on aggar first but the contamination problems are just a pain in the shroom  ^_^

I think I read its not good to spray the shrooms themselves if you're asking that.

What do you mean by safe to eat? Assuming you know what sort of shroom you got you should be able to tell if they're safe to eat. As for dry vs. non-dried it doesn't matter. Some even prefer to eat them fresh...

Hmkay growth lamps seem a little weird though... they have no cells to convert the light energy. Thanks for the insight on the growth direction, I didn't know that. Regular daylight will do though, no? Once they have been stimulated to grow in a certain direction I suppose they don't need that much light anymore or am I mistaken?

Hey guys, as promised...

Altogether took like 2 weeks until harvest... like the buddha?

Geez forget about the light man! Why does everyone think they grow because of light? They don't! They are not like plants! They would grow perfectly in the pitch dark for sure! Stop wasting electricity and your money ;)

It's possible, that they need a little regular daylight because thats what "tells them" if the conditions are right to grow... I'm not sure about that but I don't even think thats the case. Anyhow regular daylight will do just as well...

dude forget about the light... they are shrooms not plants...

They do grow the same because they have no chlorophyll which plant have. By the way they aren't even plants, just in case you didn't know. There are myths out there however that shrooms like the moonlight and grow faster when the moon is shining... I say that's crap but hell what do I know  ^_^

You should be doin ok... as soon as the substrate is fully colonized, its hard for contaminants to conquer any space. Also the shrooms are rather stable friends. If the humidity  or temperature fluctuates a little they don't care. Remember they are nature and you never have constant weather or temperature...  the only problem one can get is if the temperature rises above a certain level... then the myc stops growing or even dies.

I'd be surprised if they wouldn't continue to grow... you should be doin ok...

You can but I'd wait just a bit... if the caps start to curl its just a cosmetic thing but nothing to worry about. I'd let each "patch" develope until no more growth can be seen and then harvest.

Just my thoughts ;)
