face mask isn't necessary for the procedures...you can be successful without it.

you got contam because something wasnt sterlized enough, try to re check your steps and see what you might have overlooked.

see one thing I did when I sterlized the jars was put aluminum foil 3 inches above the inside of the pot so the foil isnt touching the bottome of the pot. I had a tray hold the foil and fill the water just barely touching the foil and made very little holes in it so the steam can come up but keep the water out from jumping into the jars and getting it wet.

I just thought since I had it at a constant temp (75) that maybe interrupting the temp might effect the rate which the mycelium colonizes. I turned on the heat only if it went below 72. Im constantly checking the temp just to be on the safe side.

thanx for the advice

Took New Pictures and its looking real good, Just concerned a little because the weather here just dropped dramatically and its cold. My temperature in my closet dropped from 77 degrees f to 72 degrees f Im thinking of puttin the heat on.

Im going to start out with the picture of the jars where its not colonized all 6 of them right down below

From Left to Right....this first jar is the Hawaii Strain almost colonized but you can see a big spot missing..its getting there

This second Jar is the Tasmanian Strain lookin good

took a picture of my temperture at 72, the jar next to it is the hawaii strain

this jar is the tasmanian strain

This picture is also a tasmanian strain

the last jar at the end quickly colonized faster than the rest of the jars...tasmanian strain

this last picture was taken on the sides where its all colonized

so far its going good but slow. gotta keep my temperature up at a constant rate.

I'll take more pictures either in the mid or end of the week.

yea its very much possible, remember you just need to achieve 212 degrees Feh for good sterilization, my first project I used the steam method with good outcomes so far. Check my forum "Colonization". Pressure cooker is to make you feel that 100% that your sterlized your jars. Its recommended to use the steam method for 1 hour and 1/2 but I did mines for 2 hours just to make me feel better and I let it cool down for about 4-5 hours, they recommend over night but as long as you feel the jar cool your ok. Jars can't be warm or hot when you innoculate.

I would return it for a dehydrator where u can adjust the specific temperature, its gonna cost more than the regular type but its well worth it. remember adding too much heat will make the shroom lose its potency.

when fully colonized did you dunk the cakes in water for atleast 24 hours? Usually the cold shock triggers birthing in the cakes.

Just wait and give it more time, be patient I'd give it another week to start to see anything.

relax and stick to the basics before getting into the more complicated methods.

thanks for the link, was really helpful.

Got new pictures for the end of this week. So far so good with the 6 jars, just 1 jar never colonized which was the jar behind the clock. wonder what happened.

all 6 jars colonized and in good condition, kept at 75 degress F.

mycelium is growing all around the jar slowly getting to full colonization

almost there....
