Title: Nearly full colonization over night?
Post by: lun0s on February 11, 2010, 09:23:52 AM
Well I made a new batch and use a spore syringe I made I went a bit crazy with the solution. Pushed a bit too hard(I think the syringe losened up) and put like 3cc per jar haha. But anyways one of my jars I think it is nearly fully colonized OVER NIGHT. Maybe a day or two prior but I don't remember seeing any mycellium a few days ago... I know for sure it hasn't even been a week since inoculation yet the jar is nearly fully colonized.

Sounds like contamination to me.

I have never heard of myc. almost completely taking over a jar in just one night. I have seen contaminants take over that quickly though.

Well I normally check the jars at night in the dark so no light get in, but what contams look like mycellium growth? Only one I can think of is cobweb mold. I hear it spreads really fast. This is only appearing in my jars I used my spore syringe that I made. What do you guys usually do when you make a spore syringe, and could I have cause cobweb mold through a bad syringe?

Well lun0s did say it was longer than one night, but the post makes it sound like he doesn't know what day of the week it is.

There are just so many variables to make a guess. Maybe you should try to make a liquid culture from spores to knock your jars with. That would really rock things along.

Did a quick search on shroomery about that, seems like something neat to do(only read a little). I will finish reading about it tomorrow. I inoculated the sunday that has just passed. I sometimes do lose sense of time(might help if I wasn't lazy and fixed my clocks/computer calenders)

my cakes usually take about 14 days to colonize and that is fairly fast. . .  overnight doesn't seem possible bro. . . usually takes 3 days at least to see mycelium form. . .
