Cultivation / Using oven as flow hood
December 10, 2004, 03:37:43 PM
I read that turning an oven on about 200 degrees F pulling out a rack and working that way acts as sort of flow hood. The concept being the constant flow of warm air rising keeps airborne bacteria from landing on you. Is this acurate? Anyone had sucess that way?

PF - Tek / bruised mycelium
December 10, 2004, 03:24:27 PM
I am a newbie and so everything that happens is great but at times perplexing.I have read that if any contams get in then throw out that cake. Well I was moving a cake to another place when it fell off the lid I picked it up and placed it gently back on the lid the  next day i noticed a blue green every where I had touched and where it had touched the table as well. I almost threw it out but I couldn't bring myself to.Instead I moved it away from all my other cakes and watched it closely. To my surprise the bluish color faded and the cake progressed and fruited very well. My question is Was this a normal chain of events was it just reacting to being touched and are the shrooms safe to consume? THANKS FOR ANY INPUT>

December 10, 2004, 03:08:26 PM
I have a friend who is on the methadone maintenance program and wants to trip again after 15 years of not doing any form of hallucinagenic. He is a recovering heroin user and is on 100 mgs. of meth per day. My question is does anyone out there know if the methadone will have any ill effects or vice versa? Will it block the effects of the mushrooms and is it safe? Thanks for your help.                             P.S.Anno thanks for your reply to my question of moisture on cakes.you were right as always they fruited 2 days later and now they are on the 2nd. flush and doing very well.

Cultivation / moisture on cakes
November 28, 2004, 04:14:40 PM
i have a kit[white rabbit] and have slighty moist perlite in bottom fresh air humidifier on timer 1 hour every 12 hours hygrometer says 90-95% temp. is between 74-76. the cakes are covered with very small water droplets. this kit has no drip shield (came that way) i thought ithe water was falling from the top so i put a small plastic dome over some of the cakes but no change the cakes have been birthed for over 2 weeks with no sign of primordia. 2 questions will the droplets hurt the cakes & is this a normal length of time to  wait for pinning & primordia? i'm just a newbie so HELP
