Title: 100% Verm Casing
Post by: captshroom on November 07, 2008, 08:49:41 PM
Hey Baph or PW if I switch to 100% verm casing (sounds like less f---ing around) do I need to sterilize the verm or is it ok right out of the bag?

You pastuerize the verm in the microwave.
Wet the verm to field capacity and put in microwavable container, make sure to put a microwavable lid fastend to all sides but 1,pastuerize in microwave for 7 - 9 mins close the 1 unfastend side and let cool.

Thanks Baph. I guess I couldn't wait so I tried 100% verm right out of the bag. I will let you know how it goes. Also the grain I used was fully colonized for almost a month. I just didn't get around to it "till now. Oh well I guess I can hope for the best.

ive never had a problem using vermiculite straight out of the bag as a casing layer... its an inert substance, although it sucks come harvest time...  leaves massive boulders in your substrate
