Title: fc low rh
Post by: fungiguy on July 02, 2009, 04:42:12 AM
i set up two fc's about a week ago. i think i had way too many holes drilled to start off. so i taped up most of them, leaving a couple just above the pearlite and at the top. got rid of crappy hygrom. and bought a digital. still can't get rh above 85%. the lids are not "airtight". does that matter? i just put suran wrap over the top and placed the lid back on. temp is fairly steady at 76 degrees. any advice for a newbie. got 10 cakes colonized already in the fc's.

Did you prepare your perlite the right way? I can't really offer anything without a pic seeing as I dont know the size of the tub or where/ how many holes you have.

i preped the pearlite like the pf-tek showed. saturated, then drained, then put into the fc. i sprayed the walls down when i put the cakes in. should i not of done that? i'm about to get two more containers and start from scratch. i thought by wetting the walls, the proper evap from the pearlite never ocurred--thus the rh cannot get over 85%.
