Cultivation / Monotub Confusion
November 04, 2010, 07:49:06 PM
I have 7 quart jars nearing fully colonization and I just realized I really don't have any room in my FC. So I was thinking about making up a monotub due to Dubs suggestion. I have a 14.5 gallon tub, poly-fill, and working on getting a plexiglass like sheet to install into the lid.

I've been readying some tek's from here and shroomery and I think I have the basics down. First of all, I'm alittle uncertain how I should arrange the holes and how wide they should be. I've read about using 4-2in holes on each long side of the tub and Ive also heard about putting holes every 2ins. Secondly, I want to make sure to use the right ratios of spawn:bulk. As I said, I will have 7 quarts of spawn at my disposal. What would be the right amount for my 14.5 gal tub? As far my bulk goes, I decided to use a coir based substrate. Does anyone have a good coir based bulk substrate tek? Help please

Cultivation / Problem :Casing depth to substrate depth
November 03, 2010, 04:45:47 PM
Hey, I was just checking the archives and found out that the casing depth should be 1/4 of the depth of the substrate. I made mine closer to 1:1 ratio. Am I screwed? What should I do?

Cultivation / Nuking vs. PCing Casing
October 25, 2010, 04:30:26 PM
Hey everyone,
I about a week away from casing my popcorn and I was wondering which way I should go with my casing. Last time I microwaved my casing and I got the Green!!! But then again, I let my casing get alittle to warm for comfort when incubating it, so this could have increased my contamination chances. Should I microwave or PC, also for how long and in what? Thanks for the input guys. Hope Life Is Good

Cultivation / Knocked Up
October 12, 2010, 11:55:34 AM
I'm happy to say I just knocked up 7 quart jars and 4 pint jars of corn today. I took a break from growing over the summer so this is my first grow in awhile. Its actually my first time doing corn as well. I knocked up 4 w/ Ban Hua Thanon, 4 w/ Tak Mountain, and 3 w/ African Transki (ralphster's sotm). I'm very excited about this grow because its my first time with corn and with Ban Hua Thanon, which I have heard good things. As soon as these babies start doing something I will def. post pics.

PF - Tek / Puffed Millet and Millet Flour
April 14, 2010, 05:35:47 PM
Well Psychonought and I just got back from a health food store. We were attempting to find some millet. Well we found puffed millet and millet flour. Since we just got our pc we're itching to make up a few batches. We decided to do the brf-tek but substitute millet flour for brown rice flower. Going to try to just do straight puffed millet, not sure how its going to work. If all the nutrients are still there, I would think it would work. What do you guys think? Either way we will post some results soon.

Cultivation / Cakes???
March 09, 2010, 10:36:24 AM
I have 5 cakes that look perfectly healthy but just won't produce any fruits. I let them sit in my FC for 3 weeks, at 99% humidity and good FEA. They didn't do anything so I redunked them and put them back in the FC. They grew a tad bit more but then again didnt do much. I did that 3 weeks ago. So I'm pretty sure these are goners. Why didn't these fruit under the right conditions? I was thinking it could be that they were bad spores because the other syringe I got with this one was also funky. I just wanted to see what you guys thought.

I also was wondering what I should do with these cakes. They are still healthy. I was thinking about eating them? Has anyone eaten a cake before it has produced fruits? Do you think it would work? I was just wondering because there is a STS9 concert this weekend and I thought bout eating one. Thanks guys, sorry this is such a long message.

Idk if anyone has ever purchased anything from this site but I just found out they got busted. It seems ridiculous that the DEA were able to do what they did. Here is a link if anyone is interested in reading what happened. http://erocx1.blogspot.com/2010/02/bouncing-bear-botanicals-raided.html

January 24, 2010, 11:57:20 AM
I just recently had a run in with the green meanie . So I know I have to completely clean my whole FC to make sure I rid of it. What temp would you put geolite in the oven to make sure it sterile?

Cultivation / The trich!
January 19, 2010, 04:27:59 AM
I woke up and found a huge circle of trich on my casing. What a blow. I kinda panicked and i cut it out and remembered that dub put salt pasta on the area that he cut out but all I had was regular salt. Probably doesn't do the same thing but did it anyway and put it a different location of my other cakes. Does that salt do anything or was that just a stupid thing to do and should I just toss it? Let me know.

PF - Tek / Humidity Problem
January 17, 2010, 10:27:49 PM
I can't get my fruiting chamber above 85% humidity. I have a 13 gallon tub with about 1 inch of geolite at the bottom. I have a dual outlet air pump, one connected to a tropic aire system and another running into the FC. It said it was made for 20-60 gallon tanks. I think my air pump might not be powerful enough because I feel no moving air coming out of it and the other hose is fine. I have it running 3 1/2 or 4ft of tubing going from the tropic aire to the FC. Is it that I don't have a strong enough pump or too much tubing or not enought geolite? Thanks
Heres Pics:

Cultivation / Casing Question...
January 16, 2010, 12:42:24 PM
Hey I was just checking out my casing and I noticed alittle white fuzz forming on the top. Its very thin and almost foamy looking. I was wondering if this was cobweb or just mycelium growing. Ill get picks up in a couple hours. Thanks.

Cultivation / Incubator trouble
January 12, 2010, 07:52:36 PM
Hey everyone, my heating device for my incubator heated my casing up way to high. I cleaned an area and took the temp and it was reading 101! I didnt kill of my babies did I? I read somewhere on the forum that once it reaches 100, it kills them.

Cultivation / Food DeHydrators???
January 12, 2010, 10:40:30 AM
Since I just cased my first batch of my fungi friends I was wondering about how I was going to dry them out. I decided that buying a dehydrator was probably the easiest. I have no idea which ones are good and which ones are pieces of crap  I was wondering which dehydrators you guys have used? Any feed back is much appreciated.

Cultivation / Store Cow Manure and Mushroom Compost???
January 10, 2010, 09:57:35 AM
I was at Lowes buying some peat moss for my casing and I came across this Mushroom Compost and Cow Manure Compost. I was wondering if I could use this as a substrate and if anyone had any experience with these. Here's links for a visual about what I'm talking about:

I was just curious and wanted to know if anyones played around with them. Thanks
