DavieK,
Head to Stop-n-Shop.  Pick up a few boxes of the Reynolds " Slow Cooker Bags ", or " Oven Bags ".
Load them with a twisty, and PC them like you would a jar.  After the PC, tie them off good, place some micropore tape on one side, and inject them.
They should colonize as fast if not quicker than the jars will.
Call me if you need more,....

How do you give them gas exchange?

add a air filter patch toward the top of the bag like any other bag.
use silicone to seal the filter to the bag. ;)

I trust the masters, but it just seems like the silicone would peel off.

:)

Think about it bro.
you aren't adding any outside moisture to the colonizing bag/s and if sealed right it will not peel off as silicone is moisture resistant for the most part.

DavieK,
Wallgreens, Walmart, the ER, any Dr. office,......  perhaps even a "Dollar Store".

Doubtful the tape will handle the PC.

I actually apply the tape immediately after the PC move.  When it first comes out, I make ( 2 ), 1/2" cuts w/sterile scalpel, and cover the slashes right away.
My inoculation point is generally a double swatch of the tape and noc right on through the patch.
Been good for all that have used the method.
