Started a few scales down monotubs, besides decreased yield has anyone had any exp. with a project like this ? Pros , cons? Obvious advantage with these if something goes wrong you don't lose tons of spawn and waste your bulk and casing at such large quantities!
gotta pic of one of these mini tubs...colonization looks kinda fuzzy, my other ones colonization is more web like like veiny...here is a pic of the fuzzy ...anyone see this as good by the looks of it ?

Web like veins sounds good - probably lots of rhyzo myc. I'd like to see a pic.
I dont really like the looks of this fuzzy one. The colour seems really off. Keep us posted and good luck.
Does it look like cobweb to you ? Is there anything I should try or is that one just toast?
I was only able to open one pic. The colour didnt look nice and white... Very brown/yellowish. Is it the lighting in the photo? Is there a casing layer?
yup did a 50/50 verm/coir casing layer ... colonized for 10 days like i read in the tek! cased then brought to fruiting conditions ...looked like that after i removed foil and cut down the bag(the lighting is kinda yellowish as well so that may be part of it ), i sprayed with a 1% peroxide solution just to see , like i said i just brought another tub to fruiting and the myc looked very healthy , just cased it last night . now its in fruiting , with 69-72 degree heat, slow moving air ect. the spawn looks a little yellow but it is from BRF and vemic Cakes i used as spawn ... One question i had was do you remove mico tape for the exhaust holes or leave it on during fruiting ? also what is the benefit to casing/or not casing?

I dont tape my holes up. It looks like you have a lot of holes in your monotub. I have 1 in each corner an 1 in the middle of each long side for a total of 6 holes at 1/8 in size. This is all you really need for FAE. I dont bother with the large holes stuffed with polyfil.
The casing layer is used as a H2O reservoir, so you dont want it too thick - thr myc isnt suppose to use it for nutrients. If you are doing a MS run, casing layer helps with a more uniform pinset. For a clone run, I've been told its not so important.
What is that tube sticking in the side of the tub?
Oh I see well on my next tub I won't pop so many holes , my casing is about a quarter inch and is just straight sterilized berm and coir so shouldn't have any nutrients , the tube leads to a little reptile humidifier which brings in fresh humid air slowly . I was thinking it would provide good FAE without the need for a fan! Similar to the device MoGrow had in one of his posts.
A good investment is one of those air scrubers with hepa filter. Even with the small holes in my mono; I get enough air circulation from the scrubber. Less air contams, no fan, and no humidifier.
Oh that's a good idea ill check into that ! So with the questionable tub should I continue a peroxide mist? And if it is cobweb and it subsides will the myc take back over or what direction should I go? Continue fruiting or back to colonization?
I mix grains into sub with sterilized glove. Put into darkness for 3-6 days untill fully colonized. Add casing layer and mist with H2O/peroxide. Put back into darkness for 2-4 days. Then right to the window. I do mist between flushes, but I have read that this is a no-no. So I dunno, works for me
So u let colonize after applying casing layer ? I have artificial light ..that be alright? I haven't used grain well not yet I have a grain spawn colonizing now but like I said before this run is basically a pf tek broken up into monos!
Ya, just for the myc to establish itself with the casing layer. You have the right idea with it being 1/4 inch thick. The light should be fine. CFL bulbs above 3200K is what ive been told.
Cool I have aquarium flouros at 6700k , will keep you updated , I don't know if you answered about the cobweb earlier tho ... If I get it to subside will the myc still colonize and fruit and while trying to rid this mold should I have that tub in fruiting or colonizing conditions ?
You just dont want a light that will give off heat. Ya, hit that cobweb with h2O2 and keep us posted! Good luck!
Ya they stay pretty cool actually , will do ! How long till primordial growth should be seen?
Gotta be patient lol. Ive seen pins in a week. Ive seen pins take 4. Its a gamble with ms runs. Cant wait to see your monsters!
Me too , being a noob I have a lot of questions but I think I'm starting to get it ! Interesting working with micro being seeing how they work is pretty cool! Will keep posted
I just like the helpful information you provide . I will bookmark your forum and check again right here frequently. I am relatively sure I will be told many new stuff right right here! Good luck for the following!

Theres a process to this, i cant remember what it is ill look it up and post back when i find it.
Its like 3x12hours or some thing, meaning douse the cobweb with h2o2 3x 12hours apart to kill it permanantly.
further down the line i think in one of my tubs i had too little air flow i have hyphil* nodes little white blobs on the sub now... i flushed for 3 hours and replaced to fruiting conditions...anyone have exp on how long it will take to see fruits again or any other info on getting another flush outta these ?
Usually 2 weeks for second flush to show up. But it varries.
Cool. Will post a pic or two tonight of new pins

I believe your refering to darksydes setup. I dont use any automation in my growing., I strictly use set and forget monotubs. I see people use these set ups regularly but there not necessary. If you polystuff your holes right theres no need for fanning or misting for the first flush and i mist 3 or so times a week, and fan once a day on second, and third flushes.
