Cultivation / Re: revive substrate with fertilizer?
June 28, 2007, 05:51:16 AM
That was a question i posed about microniutrens in my post...Out of my experience in growing, you have to be VERY careful not to overdue the fertilizers or you will burn and kill whatever you are growing. The fertilizers are balanced for plants. 1 ounce to much and you can lose everthing in a matter of hours.

To me it would be a very tricky ratio to find for an organism, that is so small compared to a plant, and even with plants you should only do it once a week.

The micronutrients are something that every living thing needs, even humans. The basis for these are not so much (Potassium , Nitrogen, Phosphate) like you see on the side of the fertilizer bag in the form of 7/7/7 or 14/7/14...... but more in the lines of Iron, zinc, Iodine, Vitamin A, /manganese and such. Micro nutrients  help us and other living things process amino acids and maintaining an Oxygen Balance. As my experience in mycology is limited i would like to hear some other opinions myself on this from the others.

PF - Tek / Re: How many syringes should be used?

can adding only 3cc's make that much of a difference in the bulk substrate...if so, does this make for a harder growing medium.. am i understanding you right?

i was reading on some other forums that this is a great way to insure a comtam free space for you growing without the use of hepa filters and you can get a way with more in the inoculation possess.

When using a 2-3lb bulk substrate mix how many syringes should be used.

PF - Tek / Micro nutrients as an additive ?
June 26, 2007, 09:36:48 AM
In reading the post (Will removing larger mushrooms earlier.... ) i thot of something. When growing plants, a lot of times the water you add to the plants can lack setting micro nutrients that are not included in the fertilizers.

Now here is the question. If you were to add micro nutrients (found in most garden sections) to the vermiculite particles with a layer of BRF, could this infuse into the cakes and create a higher nutrient value , which in return create a higher yield.

I would like the opinion of other mycologist here on this forum. Is there a better yield from the "Casting Method"

That is ...done with the PF-Tek cakes, made in to crumbles and reapplied in another substrate.

PF - Tek / Bio Hoods?
May 22, 2007, 12:53:47 PM
Ive done as much research on the bio hood as i can and i can make one from some squirrel fans that i have ...the question i have is how detrimental are they to the process of inoculating the pf-tec jars. if i can create a chamber ( and i mean a 6x6 plastic tent)for all my inoculation can i get away with not having one ...or is it pretty much standard with this process.

PF - Tek / ?'s

I have been doing a lot of on line research on the cultivation on diffrent breeds, how to's, and advice given in the on line refrences.
I have a series of questions as a whole and in stead of listing them individually i will put them all in one post. Thank you.

1. What is a common harvest yield for a B+ or an Ecuador 1/2 pint cakes, all flushes together as one.
2. What is an average cycle (veg to harvest) in length of days. I understand that different breeds do there own thing ....but what is an average.
3. What is the best and most reliable growing median.

Thank you for you time.

PF - Tek / Does more help......
May 16, 2007, 11:08:02 AM
I am starting out and wondered if you were to put more of the spore juice from the syringe on a cake in turn grow more mushrooms and create better 2nd,3rd and 4th flushes.

one other question is, a spore print , how many syringes does it make or can it produce. i would like to be self sufficient.
