Cultivation / ?Psilocybe caerulipes?
March 22, 2007, 10:41:13 PM
 has anyone grown and/or tried this strain? It grows in my native Michigan, I may want to try this one just for novelty reasons.

These also grow in Michigan... would very much like to try any, or just have the spores for my catalog;

Psilocybe liniformans var. americana
Psilocybe silvatica .
Panaeolus subbalteatus
Conocybe smithii Watling.
Gymnopilus aeruginosus
Gymnopilus luteofolius
Gymnopilus luteus
Gymnopilus validipes

General topics / Psilocybe and the synapse
March 22, 2007, 02:42:58 PM
I am currently reading over this article: http://www.shroomery.org/6300/The-Mushroom-and-the-Synapse

All I can really say is wow. Read the article until you get to the point where the author is describing how psilocybin fills the gap between adjacent synapses. This means that cells in our brains which don't normally communicate, communicate. I find this to be very interesting. I've read in medical journals that heavy tranquilizers like Thorazine can actually shut down specific neuro-pathways. Now, if psilocybin completes all kinds of normally nonexistent pathways, could it not reverse the damage caused by the tranquilizers? In theory it looks pretty sound to me. This could be another medical application for these mushrooms. Of course this would need to be tested and studied and studied on those of us who take Thorazine daily (which would most likely be in the wards).

man, if I was home I'd be trading for every single strain that I could. It's always good to have a nice library. But anyway, I just ordered B+ from www.sporestore.com I don't know how they are just as of yet, and now I have to wait until I get home and then another couple of months. However, when I do get things going I plan on releasing my strains for FREE!

>One also very big question in my mind, is there a way to continously grow mushrooms?

Not yet there isn't. Although it isn't impossible... if you put your mind to it. Take a look at permaculture theory. Sustainable mushrooms would be tough, but not out of the question...  -_-

Nope. It would help if you could get a picture for us though.

What are the factors in a good caseing selection is MY question... not to steal your thunder or anything.

How COULD the microwave work, that is my question. I do know that microwaves heat water particles, so in theory as long as all the grains are wet, they should heat up. I think the only factor involved with success here is the time it takes to bring the substrate to the proper temperatures. Maybe it could even kill ungerminated bacteria spores?? Sounds like a good experiment to me, maybe I'll do it once I'm home again.

Doesn't look like it... I can't for the life of me figure out why that would be? Concentrated shroom stuffs... wow.

I just posted a thread in Cultivation for a trading post. Might want to post a wanted ad there. I'm sure it'll fill up once people find it... at least I'm hoping it does. Doesn't it sound like a good idea?  ^_^

how big is the set up. In the video it looks rather large until the mushrooms themselves become rather large.

So could I just keep shaking the jars everyday? So the substrate would not become solid as a cake. I could then throw it in a container for fruiting.

just a note on the shaking, I've read in numerous posts and guides all around the net that shaking too much WILL stall growth of mycelial tissues. They say once at 75% colonization. I've never heard of shaking cakes though, only grains.

While I'm on the same note... problems with cost, sterility, anonymity, orderliness, and other problems associated with paying someone for spores can be avoided very simply by trading. No one can track a purchase if one isn't made, therefore it's more anonymous.

^_^  -_-

Cultivation / Spore trading post!
March 22, 2007, 06:17:13 AM
OK, I've seen a lot of random posts of people wanting to trade and all that. So I thought why not make a trading post? Maybe people could post offers on this thread. This should be a good way to centralize the whole affair (that is unless I didn't read deep enough into the posts to see if something like this exists already or whether it's allowed at all) Forgive me if I've made a mistake.
