Title: How much should i expect to yield?
Post by: -CAP KING- on January 05, 2010, 06:53:08 AM
Sup bros,

Right so i haven't made my terrarium yet or started incubating, but i rekon my situation will be:

8-10 standard sized jars, fruiting in a terrarium approx 3 x 2 ft. Still pondering over spores but leaning towards B+, Hawaii & Amazonian Cubensis.

This is a question to the experienced masters, reflecting on their past best yields (and worst), could they give me some rough estimates to expect. And also can someone inform me about "flushes", from what i gather each flush is the fruiting of new bodies after a harvest upon a cake? And how many flushes to expect? Is it about 3?

All advice appreciated, cheers.

wow, now thats a tough one... when i was doing cakes, i think on an average, i was getting 25gs wet. each cake, each flush. for the 1st 3 flushies.. then it would taper off...

Yeah you got the 'flushing' thing right.  Yeah Trout is basically right, cakes are unpredictable though.  I have had cakes flush as many as 5 times and some flushes have been over 40G's wet.  Then I have had some cakes that have flushed only 10G's wet.  After you get the cake thing down, try crumbling and casing.  You'll get the hang of it over time.

What you reap depends on multiple factors.
1. Cakes not cased will not produce as much as cased cakes will.
2. Some casing material mixtures can add more potienal in yeilds.
3. RH plays a major factor.
4. Substrate mix ratio i.e , the amount of nutes for the myc to feed off of plays a role in yeild.
5. Temp variations
6. The size of the cakes

to sum all this up......

3 - 5 flushes, you may get more but it all goes back to the amount of nutes the myc has to feed and other factors.
Anywhere from 20 - 65g wet.
You want real weight do grains and spawn to bulk.  -_-

nice one baph!

right, now its time for me to sound like a real newb. Can you clear up some of the lingo i haven't quite got round yet.

RH?
Casing Cakes?
Nutrients in the cake mix? are you talking about something else other than the rice and vermiculite?
spawn to bulk?

much appreciated fellas

i thought i may aswell attempt to guess the answer to my question...

RH means relative humidity???
casing means the terrarium???
you can put extra nutes.in the mix???

RH = Relative Humidity.

Casing is a material you put on top of a substrate i.e, Vermiculite , 50/50 (verm/coir) , Coco Coir , Topsoil , etc,etc.....

No , you don't add extra nutes to the mix. What I mean by that is , take the brf recipe that you learn and play with the brf/vermiculite ratio until you find the best ratio that createst optimal mycilial growth for your growing style. <--- worry about getting a few grows under you belt , then play. ;)

Some people add another mineral but it acts as nothing more than a PH balancer. I can't remember the name of it because I don't use it or any other additives

Spawning to bulk is putting myc in big ass containers or outside colonizing that and then fruiting. :)
